Side turn signals

I noticed for the first time today another 6 GC with the front fender chrome mouldings without a side turn signal and it looked quite bland.

When did they change this?

MichaelInChicago, my car year on onwards 2015, the LCI update.... the indicator moved from the chrome fillet in the front fender to the middle of the door mirror shrouds.

I agree with you, I like the indicator in the chrome fillets. but I prefer my new fully adaptive headlights and the refreshed front of the LCI. the updated digital sat nav screen is also a little nicer in the LCI however that was about it really for the LCI updates.

Cheers

Thanks for the response.

What is interesting is that mine is a 2015 model.

Mate I think LCI took effect in April of 2015....

See pic of my car it’s a June 2015 LCI. Note the indicators in the mirrors, new headlight treatment and one less vane in the kidneys....

The LCI for the F06 (Gran Coupe) in the US began with Model Year 2016, I believe. Things like the headlights changed (adaptive LED with turn signal along the top), side mirrors (turn signals), hood design, glossy navigation screen, touch iDrive controller, grilles, revised front/rear bumpers, LED fog lights, and a variety of other things.

Small changes continued thereafter, such as OTA map updates in 2017, certain ConnectedDrive features, etc.

The updates are all positive except for the move of the side turn signals from the fender mouldings to the mirrors.

Apologies I didn’t attach the pics.... first you can see the LCI body updates re lights and indicator placement in the mirrors and the newer lcd sat nav screen

MIC, I do agree I rather prefer the indicator in the side fillet...

There is one other LCI change that goes mostly unnoticed. The black surround piece for the climate controls and CD slot is shiny black starting in 2016. In 2015 and earlier it has an odd-looking dullness that almost looks as if it has been wiped with an inappropriate chemical.

also the gran coupe logo on the rear door is shiny black instead of a textured backround but honestly who cares bmw should have never touched something so perfect.. I highly prefer my 2015 adaptive led lights and the turn signal on the fender..

and as for the rest i already updated the idrive display and added carplay anyways...

edit and i complained to my purchasing dealer about the ac panel being worn and dull they replaced it with a shiny new one

Thanks for the pictures and all of the interesting responses.

I never noticed the dullness of the radio/climate control surround until it was just mentioned here. Would I be able to replace the dull one in my car with the shinier black surround?

Any vendors that sell a blacked out side gill for the LCI? That would be pretty cool! Maybe even a Carbon Fiber edition

Opie55, My 650 coupe is 2015 LCI and my climate control surround is high gloss black finish as per pic above. Drives me crazy how dusty it gets.
.. I checked an older car 2013 I know of and yes prior to LCI it’s like a dull finish like it’s been wiped with an oily rag...

I don't think it's a separate part, so best to source a flawless control panel off eBay and swap it.
