SOUL | M6 Resonated Muffler Bypass Exhaust

DEVELOPMENT: The M6 is quite refined with generous sound deadening and heavy muffling in the exhaust, muting the 4.4L’s intoxicating symphony – but we have a solution. Evaluation of the factory midpipes reveals a very high flowing and relatively smooth flowing design. BMW incorporated a factory break point for upgraded exhausts and the rear section is what holds the exhaust back. The Soul Resonated Muffler Bypass Exhaust forgoes the factory mufflers for a clamp on, 3″ straight pipe design with the addition of race resonators to minimize drone. The straight through design of our race resonators encourages maximum power and sound under heavy throttle while cutting down on harsh frequencies that can make their way into the cabin and cause droning on partial throttle and during cruising conditions. This is the ideal solution to pair with aftermarket downpipes to prevent drone and raspiness. The Y pipe setup exiting out through quad tips encourages equal exhaust distribution and tip adjustability to allow for either a flush or staggered appearance in the bumper. Turn up the aggression but not the drone with SOUL.

CONSTRUCTION: Each set of muffler bypass pipes is made from mandrel bent T304L 3″ .065″ wall stainless steel tubing, straight through race resonators with a full metal packing design for maximum durability, and laser cut brackets for perfect fitment. Choose from several hand finished tip options to get the look that suits your M6 best. Mikalor Supra Heavy-Duty Clamps are included to securely hold the tips onto the system.

POWER: Our development M5 reached peak power of 610 whp and 615 ft-lbs of torque during third party dyno testing at R/T Tuning. Mods included catless downpipes, custom tune, and our Resonated Muffler Bypass Exhaust. Power gains are identical as the M6 uses the same 4.4L V8.

BOLT ON AND GO: Each exhaust is tested in a fixture to ensure perfect fitment. Installation requires cutting the original exhaust at a factory break point (marked with a dimple) which allows for reinstallation of the factory system if necessary. Thorough installation instructions are included in the box for a straightforward install that can be performed by most DIY enthusiasts.

My biggest concern is can there be a way that mufflers are seen to be there.

If a policeman pulled me over and looked under the car and saw no mufflers it would be a costly fine.

I live in Australia. Catless DP's are harder to see when being pulled over.

Surely I am not the first to mention the lack of visual mufflers?

No one has ever mentioned it to us as it's not an issue stateside and to be fair - it is designed specifically to delete the mufflers. Would the resonators not suffice as they are sound attenuating devices? We can customize the tips to have no logo or something BMW related which may help there.

Am I the only one that thinks that the burble tune sounds utterly ridiculous??? A couple of pops on a very high RPM off throttle sounds okay, but for it to be continuously popping at 3-5k rpms, with the flames coming out, is pretty rice-boyish to me!

We have a German luxury sports coupe in our 6-series. It's not a Lambo or a McLaren P1!....and it's not a Honda Civic Si with a 6" exhaust pipe!

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but the other day I saw a BMW 335i with a burble tune drive down the street, and it started popping like crazy while decelerating at around 30mph. It sounded foolish! A bunch of teenagers that were nearby started laughing when they heard it.

Personally, I would never want my car to sound that way!

Outside of the burble tune, the muffler delete system from Soul sounds quite good IMHO.

Thank you for the compliment! The car scene is always changing and one thing that is great about it is the diversity. It seems we're in the midst of a burble movement which could always be worse - we could go back to Blitz body kits and underglow.

Custom logos / text is $50 for artwork setup fee and application.

Coatings start at around $250 for either PVD coating or Jet-Hot ceramic coating with custom logo. Two color (different logo color) is possible through Jet-Hot but adds to the cost. Lead time is around 3-5 weeks from production to coating to your door. The PVD coater does OE exhaust applications and Jet-Jot, well, you probably know them! Their pricing isn't the cheapest but their quality certainly is.

In conjunction with a weld elimination in May, we're finally rolling out our cast Y section! This will yield better interior flow with the smooth wall path and edged interior. The thicker walls may yield a very slight increase in drone reduction.
