F06, 640D, possible adaptive drive fault?

Hi All, I would like some advice. I'd like to hear from you if you have had similar problems with Adaptive drive to help isolate a fault.

2015 F06 with 61k miles.

The steering on the car has started to feel really vague, as if the tracking was out. car was reading the road a bit too much. It felt like lower arm bushings were worn. I got it on a ramp and all bushings were fine, nothing loose. all steering components visually look fine. no knocks etc.

When driving the car over a harsh speed bump, the front bounces 4-6 times before normalising, as if the front shock absorbers are faulty. However when the car is stationary, the front of the car barely moves with me pushing down on the front to bounce it, implying that the shock absorbers are OK. Had a look and they are bone dry (no signs of leaks).

it feels to me that the fault therefore is in the software or sensors that tell the suspension how soft to go? If so, how would I go about diagnosing it without several hours at a garage? Anybody else had similar problems?

Really appreciate your input.

Hi, I got the issue resolved today and WOW, I forgot how great/sharp these cars are supposed to feel. I'm posting the solution to help others with similar problems in future.

The ball joint on one side of the regulating rod had ceased (suspension linkage). This sits between the top wishbones and the ride height sensor. This lack of movement was throwing the adaptivedrive calculations completely out. Quick removal, freeing-off and re-fit and the car handles beautifully again.

hello sorry with my english, i have the same problem as you. my car is driving badly on the road. I have the impression that the shock absorbers were damaged, they also reflect 3-4 times like the speed bump, the same symptom as you. Tell me which part was damaged in your 6. In the photo show me or link to this part on the forum?

Hi OP when you say car moves on each bump is it not due to variable damper control? I have vdc and when I keep the car on comfort + car gets very soft in ride and move up and down on each bump to give a softer feel.
