Date of Manufacture

I know that I can check the month/year in the door jam, but I read a thread where the owner said “My car was built on a Wednesday” so I am wondering where he/she might have gotten that intelligence.

Yup, there are a few but I use BimmerWork when I am not able to access the BMW software (Rheingold)

current VIN decoding sites

I use the two sites below...they have changed recently and require the entire 17 digits to work...whereas you used to be able to use just the last 7 digits. Sometimes you will need to answer a CAPTCHA question or puzzle, too...and if you see "pop up ads" on the website...don't type your VIN into those ad's search boxes...because they will ask you to pay for the info. Only use the search box that belongs to the site which is free, free, free:
  1. https://www.mdecoder.com/
  2. http://bimmer.work/

I had success with the second site, although it required some hoop-jumping to avoid the pop-ups. Turns out mine came off the line on 2/18/2016, a Thursday.

Mine were built on a Monday & Tuesday
  • Monday 11/25/2013 (f15)
  • Tuesday 1/15/2013 (f06) ...except the kidney grilles...they apparently came off a BMW 6 series built on 2/18/2016.

I guess you can say she's had some "nip/tuck" nose work done...a pre LCI with 9 slat kidney grilles:
