Standard Mods?
With the 435i the charge pipe and front mounted inter cooler were standard modifications.
What about the 640? Same motor. Thanks |

If by "standard" you mean "commonly done" by people, I would not say that swapping charge pipes and intercoolers are a common discussion topic on the forum. There is a fair amount of discussion of tunes - though mostly the N63 - but otherwise the mods discussed most often are new wheels, spacers, lowering springs, blacking out grills and other trim, and swapping/wrapping interior trim. In other words, mostly cosmetic things.

If I’ll chime in, while this forum isn’t the most active when it comes to mods, there are several mods that you can take a look into doing on this platform.
For me, I installed MHD Stage 1, which brought the car up to roughly 355ish hp and 390 ft/lbs of torque (according to the sport displays on iDrive). The car feels so much more alive. With the tune, I upgraded the charge pipe (widespread/common N55 fail point) with an aluminum one from FTP Motorsport. I also flashed XHP Stage 3 and it really does give the car a new, sportier driving character compared to the stock, sleepy map. Have had it for the past 5,000 miles and it drives wonderfully. It almost feels like a dual-clutch when the car is in Sport + mode. I upgraded all interior lights with LEDs. I swapped the front chrome grille for a gloss black one. I’ll be wrapping the roof and side mirrors gloss black to standout against the flawless alpine white exterior paint. That is all me for now. Some folks upgrade their iDrive controllers to the touch controller (if pre-2015) and nav screens/add Apple CarPlay. Others also look into suspension upgrades (lowering springs/spacers). Hope this helps! |

you would have to look for 535i parts mainly. I customed my intake, inlet etc. Had BM3 now MHD. To make power on these cars you will have to go the extra mile.

I hope this helps! And I agree with $howtime456. The 640i is a relatively rare car. Luckily, the car shares the majority of its underpinnings with the F10 535i, and many of the performance upgrades and info are identical to what is offered to F10 owners.
I'll take some pics of the car when I wash it on Tuesday |

To my knowledge, there really is no difference. I think it’s just a weird BMW nomenclature thing.
Looking back to 2009 when the F01/F02 7 series was released, the 6 cylinder option was added in a “new” “40i” nameplate in addition to the “50i” V8 that was offered. I’m guessing they followed suit with the F06/F12/F13 6 series. Eventually, post-2016, the 3, 4, and 5 series followed suit with this nomenclature pattern. |

Thanks.
Ive just got a 640i as well. First mod black grills (genuine bmw) waiting to be fitted. Second consideration is a tune for £250 approx. Gives 40bhp. Not sure if its worth doing anything else - im not even looking for loads of power. |
