Battery Warning message

Does anyone get this message pop up? Ive made sure my battery is fully charged with a top of the range trickle charger (all 5 lights so OK) - is this standard or does it suggest my battery is draining?

Just went through this mine, I toped mine off with a trickle charger too, after 2 days would get the message again they only last 4-5 years
I went to BMW dealer to get a new battery 950cca 105ah $270,the swap was very easy and I registered it with the Carly app its a 30 to 40min job

Just keep in mind I heard it can cost 600+ dollars for the dealer to install it , not sure how handy you are but if you watch a couple YouTube vids it’s a very easy job, It shouldn’t be 300 dollars of labor to install , I did it in 30-40 mins taking my time so it should be only an our of labor, just make sure negative off first on removal and negative last on install

Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely look at that option if they charge too much! Cheers

Can be much simpler than a worn-out battery... I have seen this in near new car after for instance extensive detailing with high power amp/sound system on, and repeated lock/open action because of comfort access and key in pocket (leave inside for detailing)... If this occurs repeatedly without for no obvious reason, then you may have a battery issue...

This has more likely due to a failing comfort access door handle. Are you experiencing any issues with either door?

Thanks but I have seen this over the past 6 months and the battery went completely flat after I went away for a few weeks . I keep using the trickle charger to completely recharge although the charger (which is a very advanced one) then doesn’t come up with any error messages afterwards about the battery condition.

Yes good point I have noticed that the drivers door handle can be a bit hit and miss with the comfort access, I often have to grab the handle, its as if the sensor is bad

How will this effect battery life ??

that's a good sign. The comfort access system uses both door handles as radio antennae and trunk to triangulate where the key is. If one goes bad (which they do more often than not)... it will start to drain your battery. Symptoms are... no detection at a specific door handle. Repeated attempts to lock or unlock. The car locking or unlocking on it's own as you walk near a side of the car. The gas filler locking over and over.

I just replaced my battery 2 weeks ago and it sat for 3 days was fine ,now I let it sit for 5 days I have the message again .

But I do have comfort access problems it seems I have to pull the handle for the doors to unlock instead of just touch, the front passenger side won't lock the car I touch the top ribs and nothing so I have to look into that, so your saying this can cause battery drain?

I have 2 more spots to check ,I have my exhaust valves 12v piggy backed into one of the fuses from the rear fuse box I need to find a key switched fuse,I think this is my main problem

My Valentine 1 Savvy plugged into the obd2 port its unlikely this

Passenger Comfort access door handle was the reason why it came up for me.

They disconnected and ordered me a new one. Message is gone.

I do have a comfort access problem with my passenger side door handle it doesnt respond to lock,I can only open it if I fully engage the handle but the sensors behind the handle aren't responding.I dont use this handle much so its not troublesome ,I was thinking this was my battery issue but it wasn't

It turned out to be my Meistershaft exhaust controller was on a constant hot and even know it wasn't being activated it was still draining power to make the message pop up after 3 days sitting
So I located a fuse(thanks to a forum member) in the rear fuse box that is switched from ignition on and piggyback fused off of that, there is only 4-5 fuses that are switched in the whole box,so after 7 days sitting no message this fixed my problem

I have the same message after washing the car. Additionally I got the message that the parking brake is not functional. Could it be a low voltage battery?
I thought of disconnecting the battery for about 10 min. And see if the message comes back.
Does all the memories stay or do I have to set them again.

Dealer had mine for almost 3wks, at first they blamed the tracker and then took up my advice on checking the comfort access, surprise, surprise it was the CAS (control access module) messing with the comfort access, all in all they replaced the battery and starter motor and alternator, should have took my advice, but that would be listening to the customer !!
