BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe M Sport Hits Nurburgring For First Time

COMMENTS

We recently reported the first sighting of the upcoming 6 Series Gran Coupe on the Nurburgring, and the M Sport version has now hit the ring for the first time.

The 6 Series Gran Coupe will feature M sport exterior styling from the 6 Series M Sport which adds an aggressive flare to the Gran Coupe's very sleek shape. Current expectation is for the Gran Coupe to hit showrooms in 2012 as a 2013 Model Year vehicle. Engine range is expected to be identical to the 6-Series Coupe.

The 6 Series Gran Coupe will take on the Mercedes CLS and Audi A7 directly.

Mmmmm... I like! This with x-drive would be in my top 3 favorite BMWs available.

I like it. The look has a tremendous edge over any rivals of its kind: Merc CLS, Audi A7...

Would like to see next to 6-series coupe to get a comparo for size determination. Both are big, but this thing promises to be HUGE!

Lovely. I really like the proportions. It kind of reminds me of the Aston Rapide where it looks like an extremely stretched DB9. This looks way better than the competition.

Wow that's a lot of car. No need to even consider an L version of this (not that they are or anything)

It looks like a yacht. I don't think I'm going to like the styling of this one. Also, I see absolutely no need for such a car in BMW's line-up. I'm sure it will sell, but still this whole segment is totally unnecessary. Like, why not buy either an M5 (for the same kind of $$), or a 7er with the M-sport package (also for the same kind of $$)?

I think part of the reason why it looks so big is because it is lower than a standard 5er hence it looks a lot longer. In fact it is only about 10cm longer than a standard 5er and shorter than a 7er. The new 6GC-M will be the most beautiful and desirable car in BMW's lineup imo and if money is not an issue I don't see why someone would prefer the M5 instead.

I wonder if BMW will make an " M// " version of the Gran Coupe in the future?

^ For sure it will be an M version, it was already announced
We can consider also Panamera and AM Rapide on list of its rivals

Not only will they make it, it will be placed above the M5 in the foodchain/aka power ratio.

I think it depends on the pricing.

I would have liked one of these instead of my 550 M-Sport. But it depends how they price it.

MSRP on my 2012 550i is 84k which is the same as a 2012 CLS550 fully loaded.

I don't like that I spent 84k on a car that looks the same as a lowly 528i. I would have bought the CLS but until they update the ancient comand system I won't.

If 650 sedan was available I would have bought that instead but only if it was priced competitively with the CLS.

I would not want a 7 because it's too heavy. M5 is over a 100k too. If the price 650 at M5 prices the they have a problem. M5 and M6 grancoupe should be priced same, and 650 and 550 should be same fully loaded, but maybe 650 can have a 10k higher base price with more standard equipment. That would be my recommendation to BMW.

Like I said before the 650 gran coupe will mostly have a 73-76k starting price and topping off just under $100K once you add all the packages.

Mercedes actually reduced the price of the 2012 CLS to compete better with the A7. Naturally BMW has to stick in this price range for starters.
