Costco: What are your must-haves?

I assume many here are Costco members including myself. There are multiple items I regularly buy if we go to Costco but I'm interested in hearing what your essentials are, or even new discoveries. I'll start off by saying I'm now addicted to Kirkland brand's honey roasted macadamia nuts. These are absolutely delicious, dangerously so! I think these are relatively new because I don't remember seeing them before.

My parents are hoarders or preppers, I'm not sure exactly what to classify them. Their idea of fun is to walk around Costco/BJ's/Sam's club.
I personally dont get it. There are 2 of them, I don't know why they buy so much bulk items but hey it makes them happy.

My wife and I don't have any memberships. Everytime I think I want to go check it out, I remember its just the 2 of us and I'll likely over buy things I dont need and then I sit back on the couch and turn on Ridiculousness

I cannot make Costco work, the packages are just too big. Now i gotta store all this shit and TBH if you just buy non-perishables on sale at regular stores the prices are similar without the hassle of trying to keep a 4 litre jar of pickles in your fridge.

I don't get it unless you've got a massive family.

My must have is staying in the damn parking lot while my wife shops inside. Can't tolerate being in that place, especially on weekends.

My personal favourite is the line up for gas. So you saved $10? Great, what's 20 minutes of your time worth?

Idiocy with the waiting in line for gas at my local Costco is grown to monumental proportions. There's now a long line to get to the pumps. So long that you'd swear the world was coming to an end. It's never been this bad.

As to the large quantities, BJ's does not have the feed an army sized packaging. Many items in there are reasonably sized. I don't know about Sam's Club.

I never shopped at Costco. I prefer to support my local merchants. Beside being single, what would I do with a gallon size jar of peanut butter or Cheez whiz? he he...

That's why I either go early on weekends (<1030) or late on a weekday (>1900...so on the way home from work). I do the same w/ going to the grocery store. It's typically easy going at those times. I like to get in/out so I can waste my time doing something other than cart racing and weaving between aisle cloggers.

Eggs, chicken, flank steak, skinny pop, nuts, and some vitamins/supplements are the norm for my trips. Don't need to go all the time and I keep an eye on what can be bought at a reasonable price at my usual grocery store to avoid a 1 or 2 item trip. Gotta be worth my while.

Chocolate Almonds, Salmon stuffed with crab, cheese, potato salad. I wish they sold Booze at Costco in Ontario.

Sam's Club is good as well. Though similar to Costco for bulk items, I find they have a pretty good selection of meats, especially Prime grade steaks for reasonable prices and offer in smaller packages.

I'm surprised no one mentioned toilet paper. I used to think it wasn't that good of deal until I realized it actually is a good value. I've been going to Costco since I was a kid with my parents and it's simply amazing to me they still have the hot dogs and soda for $1.50.

Another misconception about Costco is that everything is bulk sized or catered around foods, etc. Obviously club members know this but Costco is pretty compelling when it comes to electronics such as TVs or computers. Pretty cool they add a second year of warranty at no extra cost. I'd have to say one of the biggest benefits of Costco is the fact it's so easy to return things, even without a receipt. I never intentionally do that unless I really am not happy with something I purchased. It reminds me a lot of the department store (when department stores were still a thing) Nordstrom. They treat their clients well and always accept returns, even if they know it's a scam. However, for the most part, they know they will have repeat, paying customers. Customer service is key.

Filet Mignon is awesome! Especially if you get their Prime grade cuts they are some of the very best IMO. Wine selection and pricing is great as well.
