Wrap interior trim pieces
Has anyone wrapped their interior wood trim pieces? I would prefer a sportier carbon fiber look. Dash panels clearly look clipped in, is that the same for the door panels? Center console have special issues? Older ones were clipped and screwed down.

If your taking the trim off to wrap then have a look at the newtis.info site. It has instructions for all trim pieces. Some are clips some are screwed in.

Check my posts mate, I've done it myself and it looks very good, just make sure you pick a good wrap and use a lot of heat and lots of patience.

Doesn't look so bad for not removing the trim.

Did it and ended up removing the wraps. The 6er has incredibly difficult trim to wrap, in my experience, owing to the shaped surfaces. The driver's side dash trim closest to the door is particularly bad. You also have to split the cupholder lid which can be daunting. The wood on driver's door is very tough to remove owing to a hidden clip which is near impossible to remove and fitting the trim back will invariably damage the door leather. I never even bothered with the rear trim pieces. I wrapped all the lower plastic trim in my E65 7er in leather (same as the seats) and that was easier than some of the wood on the 6er.

"Had it done and am semi happy with the result (they didn't remove the trim)" Who did it and why semi-happy? Fit? Color?

Color is 3M silver something, can look up the exact name if of interest. There are details here and there that i learned to live with for now but was not expecting to see any of them. See photos. |

Its an absolute ballache...
Removed my trim ,the easy bit. But the wrapping was a nightmare, have removed trim x2 now as the hot weather bubbled the vent and the dash driver door trim piece, seems good now tho |
