Have full gtc exhaust. Only ever close valve for cold starts in my neighborhood at 6am to make my wife happy (closing valve makes a huge difference in this regard). Otherwise, always open. I don't know what it would sound like w/o the LXR pipe. I had AMS catted DP's but damn that's way more aggressive and nasty. The second I switched back after several months I was like man this is the right sound. I think full cat back is perfect.

There is not really a lot of drone with the full GT Haus setup.
You can talk on the phone and to passengers with no issue.
I think its actually pretty quiet inside.
Deff my favorite exhaust setup.
I've installed GT Haus, Akrapovic, Eisenmann and RPI recently on the S63T engines.. GT Haus is deff more aggressive all around ! I love the sound

All systems will have some sort of drone. On my E60 M5 which has the RPi system, I had all the heat shields removed on the underbelly and placed Dynamat (sound proof material) the entire length of the car. It definitely made a big difference. BTW - When I close the valves on the Meistershaft, there is no drone. However, when I have it wide open, there is definitely some droning, but I just change gears to make it more to my liking.

All this talk... I cannot wait to hear this exhaust on my car. I should have my GT system installed next week! I am excited to see how this thing sounds with my catless downpipes and midpipes. Boy their neighbors are goings to hate me even more now! LOL!

I personally do not like the RPI sound.
I heard a full catless version from RPI...sounded like a diesel truck running down the freeway

I have the adjustable Meisterschaft on my 2013 M5. It definitely has noticeable drone when the value is closed. I actually find it a bit annoying, especially since the car is often in or passing through the 1600-2000 rpm range. And when the valve is open, the drone gets unbearable after ~10 minutes. It appears to be very subjective since I know others have said there is no drone. I can only assume it's because they have bad hearing, though. The system sounds amazing, though, especially to bystanders. Would I do it again? Probably not.

Not sure how people are saying there is no Drone with the Meisterschaft setup. I also have the valved system and there's significant drone from 1200-2000 RPM. Being that our cars pass thru this range almost always, I find it annoying to drive around town with the valves wide open. With valves closed, the drone is still there but its bearable.

Don't get me wrong, when indulging in some spirited driving and valves open, the sound is intoxicating. But I use the car for other reasons as well, and when i do, the valves are closed or half open at max.

Also important to note that i have Gintani catless Downpipes as well.

But... I placed an order for the Meisterchaft a few days ago (w/ black 102mm tips). I just have to hear what the Meisterchaft sounds like. I'll decide which is the best and just sell the one I don't want.

I've heard the Akra has a beautiful sound but I am looking for a more raw, nasty, throaty, angry, pissed off, hulk smash, roid rage type of exhaust. I have a feeling Meisterchaft might be the ticket.

Brian

I'll buy the one you don't want. Lol. Let me know

Eurohorses Do you have Active Sound disabled? When I went to the Turner race exhaust (muffler delete) I had a lot of drone, until I had the Active Sound disabled, then it was greatly reduced. When my dealer updated my sw, which re-enable the Active Sound, the drone was super noticeable again.

Also why on earth are you driving around under 2000 RPM I mean sure from a stop you have to go THROUGH 1k-2k, but driving around 3k+ is the place to be

NYC traffic my friend..... makes having these wonderful cars pointless at times. But I love my cars.

As for the "Active Sound"... are you referring to the sound canceling by the speakers? Please elaborate if you don't mind.

I have the valved system, so i just close them when i'm in bumper to bumper traffic. But its open whenever i'm cruising around.

**Need to adjust my right most tip....Angle it downwards a smidge...

The M6 (or at least my '14 F13) has "Active Sound" which (as I understand it) takes sound from a microphone in the back of the car that picks up exhaust noise and runs it through the speakers in the car. It's designed so that you have a nicer sound in the cabin despite all the wonderful soundproofing. With a stock exhaust, and Active Sound disabled, it's VERY quiet and it's hard to shift based on engine note, so I see why they did it. However, with non-stock exhaust, it seems to create or at least exacerbate a serious DRONE between 1k-3k RPM. Disabling Active Sound made a huge difference for me. I disabled it via Rich's coding, however I believe you can also unplug a unit in the trunk for a physical approach.

There are probably people more knowledgable on this subject than I, but that's my understanding and experience.

This is great information. I have an appt with Rich in the upcoming weeks for some coding. I'll be sure to cancel out the Active sound. That may make all the difference for me Thanks!!!
