Weak sound system?
I have a '14 M6, and while I really love the car, I've been depressed about the sound system lately. I know satelite radio doesn't have much fidelity, but even playing directly from my iPhone the sound is kind of lack luster. My Jeep sounds as good, and much bass-ier. I rented an AMG C63 last weekend and the stereo sounded REALLY good. Way better than my M6. Better bass, clearer mids and highs, just way better...
Is the M6 stereo a dud? Anything I can do to help solve this? |

devondragon do a full re-haul. Bav's plug & play is decent, but if you're looking for the SQuality I think you are, and want some punchier & deeper bass, then definitely take the car to the audio shop.
JL (W7's) Audio is the way I'd go. Also, keep in mind, if your hold period for the car is less than a 1.5 years, then Bav is the smarter, economical choice, that may (if you go dealer trade in) or may not (private party) have an affect on the resale value. Cheers. |

I added a sub to the trunk to assist with the bass, the sub upgrades from bav sound look intriguing, but haven't seen any reviews yet.

Believe it or not, having a base system and completely upgrading it the right way is actually better than the B&O system. Just take it to a reputable car audio shop that does high end systems. Expect to pay around 3-4K and you’ll be thrilled.

Thanks Nelson@BimmerTech ! That's a serious read... Based on the current BimmerTech site I'm unclear if the product there is plug and play or requires custom wiring etc...
The BAVSound speakers look pretty good. Based on my sound part code above it looks like I have the "Premium HiFi" with Logic7 (which I've just read some pretty good reviews on, so I wonder why mine sounds so weak....). Maybe I'll do the BAVSound speakers and woofers, and see how that goes... Might tide me over until the M8 comes out. Thanks for everyones help!! Greatly appreciated! |

Hmm no Logic7 in the settings. Tweaked the EQ and it feels a little better, but I think BAVSound might be nice...
------ Edit: it looks like if it has "Surround" and a full EQ it's Logic7 and they stopped doing Logic7 branding several years back (based on my reading of the internets...). Last edited by devondragon; 02-22-2018 at 11:48 AM.. |

Ideal if you don’t have even Harman Kardon (didn’t know you can buy an M6 without...), easier to upgrade...
As per a couple of other posts above, do a full rebuild. Let someone who knows what they do design it using elements they know. I did this, and now the feedback is along the lines “my sound system must be more expensive than the rest of the car (‘17 M6 GC)” based on how it sounds like... No factory upgrade (B&O or anything else) won’t come even close... A couple of pointers- - Focal splits in front and rear doors - Mosconi 6-channel digital amp/DSP - Focal under seat woofers - Focal 12” sub with SoundStream monoblock amp - Great quality installation and tuning The key is to find an installer who knows what they do - ask around, and avoid all who give you “big brand” brochures to choose from... |
