M6 GC Air-conditioning fail question/troubleshooting.

Good Morning peoples,
I drove my M6GC to dinner Friday night the air-conditioning was working fine. No issues, nice and cold. Went to dinner for about 2.5 hours, jumped in the car started it and it now blows hot air, not ambient temperature. Like proper hot as if the heater is on!
I wound the temp up to 26 degrees and it didn't change still hot, back down to 16. Still hot.
Does anyone have some troubleshooting ideas for me. I figured if it was loss of gas I would notice it over time not instantly like this.
It's as if the AC is stuck on heat or something.

Thank you in advance

Chris

I haven't had an issue with mine yet, but I have worked on several automotive AC systems. It has been my experience that a slight drop in pressure could result in the AC clutch not engaging so what mikerx5 says makes sense and is an easy low cost step.

Have you checked what the outside temperature indicator is saying. If that is damaged the AC system will not function properly. If it is indicating 50C the sensor is shorted. If 40C the sensor failed open or wiring broken.(check these at startup).

Had the car looked over by BMW, turns out the compressor and the evaporator need replacing.
To me i struggle to see how the A/C was working fine, I turn the car off. Have dinner, turn the car on, not working.
Either way it is getting fixed up.

Hi guys, thought I would give an update. Yes, BMW is doing the A/C under warranty. I am waiting on parts to come from Germany, due to Covid it takes a little longer to get to Australia. BMW identified the compressor and the evaporator need replacing.
Now the funny part! As quick as the A/C died, it is now working again!! Frosty cold now issues, as of yet touch wood. So this lead me to believe its not the compressor or the evaporator and maybe something like a sensor Wiggins out?!?!

Any gurus on here to help me out on this one?
