Left rear sunshade

The left rear sunshade doesn’t retract fully. I’m bringing her in for warranty stuff tomorrow so I’ll have them fix it. Has anyone else experienced this?

But it does retract at least a bit? Could be some missing grease?

Yes. When it fails, it goes all the way down to about 1 inch above the door panel. But now it’s retracting fine again. Lol. Car is at the dealer and they are checking it out.

What was the outcome on this? I noticed my left side was still up an inch once too.

They fixed some rod inside, but then the first time I lowered it, it did the same thing again! The last three times it has been working fine, but they ordered me a whole new sunshade and will install it when it arrives.

That is the exact problem I had (have). They did fix it, by realigning some rod within the mechanism, but now the problem has reappeared. Sigh. Back to the shop. They need to replace the entire sunshade.

It is quite frustrating to have all these little, simple problems. You would think that after decades, they would have figured out how to prevent these simple issues in a 100K car!

I know this is an old post, but I solved this problem with my car. There's no need to replace the motor or anything. When the flap does not close properly it is because the flap door got disconnected from one or more of it's many hinges. Just use a pry tool to open the flap and snap the hinges back into place and you should be good to go. This fixed my problem.
