F06 Front Fenders Plastic?

I guess BMW took a cue from their motorcycle division? I think the front fenders are plastic! Anybody know anything about this?

Wouldn't surprise me.

On a side note - great picture. What a nice angle for the 6GC. It's just a beautiful machine. I keep reading articles about the 8GC and yes, it looks decent... but it doesn't look as nice as the 6GC. The shark nose and large swept back headlights are so unique.

Yes, they are plastic. Hood and doors are aluminum. On the convertible at least, the trunk and back panel are also plastic. Only the rear quarters are steel - and the windshield surround. I assume for those of you who settled for a car with a metal roof (god knows why you would!), that is also steel.

On my '15 650i GC the entire front bumper is plastic. When it was delivered to me the truck driver gouged the bottom of the bumper on both sides loading it (bumper vs. metal grating). Eventually got it repaired - that's how I know it's plastic!

Bumper covers are always plastic on every car. A much different kind of plastic than the front fenders.

Thanks! I checked it out and found out that they are indeed made from plastic. That’s fine by me, as long as the cabin is still safe. I have also been checking out the 8 GC and I agree with you. My first impression when I saw it was that it looked a lot like a Panamera. That’s not good for me. I have never been in love with that car.

Thanks! I found out that the trunk lid is also a plastic/fiberglass combo. I don’t mind, was just a little surprised.

I imagine that newtis covers it. Just search in the search box. This link is to the convertible, but you can back out to the main page and plug in your own VIN.

Given the weight of this car, I'm glad they found a few places to save weight.
