Today’s well spent 10$ Caliper Color

I have been debating painting my brakes for a while as still unsure what color. Been a long time fan of the Anyifreeze Green/ neon Yellow on the high end cars. One shop quoted me $1000 to paint the brakes that color.... smh... I was like really dude... there brakes. And while we all try and get the best deal no one wants to be robbed. 350-400 should be the most just to paint some calipers I believe. Nonetheless a few drinks and a few joints will make any Saturday a project day so... halfway through. About to go grab some more brake cleaner and see what she looks like in the sun.

Since the wheels were off they got a thorough cleaning. I am not the biggest fan of plastidip though I have seen some nice and not so nice things done with. One day I will get the brakes painted this color but for 9.99 can ( he had some glossier, white for the base, and a half can of the Blaze) I am very impressed.

Ordered the v style diffuser today too so I have a nice theme to tie in hopefully..

Looks good. My car is black like yours, but with dark wheels, so I'm trying to decide on a caliper color to make it pop. Red looks good but is kind of played out. The 'M' blue looks good but then I'll be accused of being an M Poseur. So I was thinking maybe yellow. Your post may convince me to go bright

Definitely go bright, I was thinking that I wish my wheels were black again now..
THIS FORMULA:
-clean brakes
-2 coats of white base coat
-3 coats of Blaze
-2 coats of glossifier
-3 heinekens
-good friends

On my previous car I had yellow so didn't want to that color again.... Pick the color that you like... You have to see if every day..others only see it when its moving, which is when you really see the brakes... i hate seeing nice wheels and rusty brakes... i think they should spray them gloss black at a minimum. WHICH I might add was my original plan and project for the day, but i listened to my friend and I am very happy that I did...

Brakes when spinning on some of my other cars...check my youtube channel to see these in action....
(ok that was a shameless plug but...here is the link anyway)

I always try and think what will look good against the cars when they are rolling, then the brakes look like are a nice accent feature.

I really want to change mine after seeing this! But I'm looking at them and it appears they have already been painted black or is that factory colour? I really like the idea of a bright colour especially because my car is ruby black..

Yes if you have the M sport the back are a gloss black while the front is a like a matte black... the darker the car the the brighter colors will stand out more...

Very nice l, especially on the color match, I really didn’t think white would look good until we started on the color matching

Okay - I really want to get my brakes painted but I'm not mechanically inclined so I've been trying with no luck so far to find a shop in the Boise Idaho area that will do this. I checked with the local BMW dealer and their shop said that painting the breaks won't last and that I would need to powder coat them.

1. Do they know what they are talking about?
2. Looking for suggestions on how to go about finding a shop to do this. (I've asked multiple body shops, tire shops and the dealer who all think it's a great idea and have heard of people doing it but absolutely zero suggestions or leads to get it done).

If this were computer hardware I'm all in to do it myself, but the last time I worked on a vehicle in this manner was 30 years ago as a teenager with my dad knowing all that needed to be done. Sadly he's no longer with us.

Thanks so much for reading!

I used the quick and dirty method of buying some brake caliper paint-comes in about 10 different colours with degreaser and brush included !!-mine was from E-tech engineering....truth be told I didn't even take the wheels off...just took my time and kept moving the car back and forward until I'd painted the calipers all over....))

I'm dead happy with the outcome....been 3 months of every day driving and they holding up.....

If you want the decals then they obviously have to be heat resistant and you need a couple coats of enamel over them once they dry
