Another tire and wheel question!

Hey guys, new to the forum here. I know this horse has probably been beaten to death... bare with me. I have a 2016 650i GC with the 20 in 373M wheels 245/275 Dunlop Sport Maxx run flats. I am looking to make the ride smoother as this is my daily driver 9 mo out of the year and it rides pretty harsh on NJ roads.

What is the better option to make it ride smoother:

1. Keep the 20 in and change to non RFT (MPS4S vs DWS06)
or
2. Downsize to 19in with a better quality RFT

I know the best option is 19 in with non RFT but I would prefer to keep RFT for convenience/safety in case of a flat.
Thanks

19" with non-runflats and a taller side wall will give you the smoothest ride.

Mine came with the very same wheels-tyres combo. To answer your doubt, I personally would swap for NON-RFT and keep 20! Personally I also believe for summer this is the perfect size for this type of car (19 looks kind of "small" to me).
I for one decided to keep the RFT tyres a little longer until they wear out more as I did not want to spend on a new set of tyres right from start. I will do another season with these ones and then exchange them.

Thanks, some days I feel like I am going to bend/brake the wheels because of how harsh the tires are. Hoping non RFTs will save the wheels and improve the ride so it is more enjoyable.

Do you think I can get away with 245/45R19 front and 275/40R19 rear instead of the OEM size 245/40R19 and 275/35R19? My calculations (if correct) show that that would still be within the total diameter of the current 20 in wheel and tire setup.

Plug your numbers into the tire calculator at 1010tire.com if it’s all green, go ahead. However even though rolling ratio may be on point, you have to watch overall tire height and make sure that you have clearance on inner strut and fender liner. I remember on a different car trying to run a 265/35/20 and though it felt great. I had some clearance issue. Fortunately I was on coil overs so I was able to raise and lower. Sidewalk height is a percentage of width so all those values change as well

Thank you! That was very helpful. My calculations were off.

I'd like to use this thread to ask a possible FIT / compatibility of G30-G31 tyres. I am looking at 20' for my F06 LCI and looking to replace the standard M373 wheels which will then become winter wheels soon.

I like these a lot:

Doublespoke design 668M

https://www.bmw-faba.de/onlineshop/m...1310a9772e.jpg

FRONT
8 J / 30mm

REAR
9J / 44mm

Thus if I am not mistaken the REAR perfectly matches my original Styling 373M.
Whereas the FRONT ones have 8J instead of 8.5 and 30 mm instead of 33.

Thus:

1) Will the front ones be a problem without any modifications? I am not a wheel expert but the deviation is minimal not?

2) Do you think these ones would fit nice on the 6er?

Look forward to your inputs and opinions

I have found the following site VERY helpful in determining fitment...give it a try by comparing your existing front set-up with what you'd like to change to: https://www.willtheyfit.com/
