Make Hit & Run a Capital Offense

I parked at my gym for 1 hour and this happens.

3 consecutive chips along the door down to metal

1 chip on the leading edge of rear fender

Scrapes on driver's side rear wheel

Paint transfer on rear fender

Scratches on rear bumper

I've reached out to the GM to get CCTV footage and we'll see what happens.

Call me crazy, but the only two red cars in the lot were red pick up trucks. The scratch pattern on the lower bumper had me wondering what made that clear scrape but looking at the two pick up trucks in the lot that both had exhaust pipes like this...

Likely culprit?

I couldn't see any real marks on either of the two cars, but I took their plate #'s.

Hopefully, the idiot who hit me was stupid enough to just park somewhere else in the lot, hopefully that is covered by the CCTV, and actually went into the gym after hitting my car instead of leaving.

Just another reason not to work out. I hope you get some good surveillance footage and stick it to them.

that will buff right out

hopefully you will get it resolved.

your paint chip n wheel scratch isnt that bad all, my wifes car was side swipe in front of our home sunday afternoon. new driver side headlight, new bumper, new fender, new driver side door. She has new 2016 x1. The guy fled the scene and my neighbor was able to chase him down. He came back to avoid getting arrest. The worst part he also hit 2 more cars that were park in front of my wife's car.

Feel your pain - I'm to get my Jeep back tomorrow or Thursday from my hit and run damage. I'm out my deductible - $500 - damage was listed around $4000, as they hit the front bumper, fender, both doors and back quarter. And now I have a nice little tag on my carfax.

Sucks - really sucks.

Hope you find the SOB...the garage my wife parked at didn't have cameras on the 3rd floor.

Lmao, I usually go before work (5 am) or after work (6pm). But yeah, mid-day and weekends are peak hours for senior driving. Dangerous times.

Wow, you must be very glad you have a good neighbor. The scratches aren't bad and will definitely buff out and cover up well with some touch up. It will definitely still be noticeable on close inspection though. Makes me sad, especially as I was planning on keeping this particular car for at least another 5-6 years.

I hope I do find the guy and I'd love to see him get written up for leaving the scene of an accident. His insurance company will love that one.

That sucks... he got my rear passenger door, rear fender, rear wheel, and rear bumper but they are mostly surface scratches. Some have made their way to metal and dented the sheetmetal but should only be noticeable upon close inspection after polishing and touching up.

At the very least, assault charges as a result of these things should be dropped.

Though not entirely relevant, I feel I should add this funny (not for me) story:

Went to a local burrito joint. I was sitting at the bar, and turned around to see this ice cream truck wedged in to a tiny space between my car and another - one which it had no business being in. So naturally I walk out to move my car. When I get outside, I see two obese Mexican woman literally wedged between my car and the ice cream truck, stuffing their faces with ice cream. When I say wedged, I mean that those fat skanks were defying the laws of physics. The amount of squeezing was such that it took them a solid minute before they were able to get loose after I confronted them. I almost went back in to ask for a can of crisco. Needless to say, their bedazzled and oh-so-incredibly tight jeans scratched the hell out of my car. It's unbelievable how shitty and grossly inconsiderate people are. Literally ruin someone's paint for a fucking ice cream cone.

sadly it sucks to own anything nice these days... ppl don't care. I wouldn't pin it on old gym members... it could be anyone from a soccer mom to a kid. people simply do not care.... period. on top of that, most gym lots are a disaster. hence I drive my POS DD to the gym / public lot areas... to that end, hope the CCTV assists you...

and still park in another parking lot for a business group that is typically closed at that hour. Then I actually WALK (heaven forbid) about 300 yards to go to the gym. Oh, the humanity of walking and getting sweaty before going to the gym!!!!

I've given up trying to find these people. I will usually just repair the small chips myself. Lucky the one time major damage happened to my M3 the guy who did it stuck around until I came back to the lot and told me how sorry he was. I was mad, but definitely didn't want to take it out on him as he could have just left.

Looks like OP drives his POS DD to the gym too. Looks like a Mercedes - and those don't even look like AMG wheels. Pssh. (Joking) Wait - there's an emoji for this -
