M6 replacement

So I've had my m6 gc for about two years and recently, I began looking for a replacement. I decided that I'd be willing to goto a two door sports car as I rarely have back seat passengers and a friend recently got an ftype r which convinced me a two seat sports car was practical enough. I was pretty set on some variant of the 991 Porsche 911. The one I really want is the turbo but was looking at c4s and gts due to budgetary concerns. Then I decided to check out the amg gt, long story short I got a 2017 amg gt. Loving the car so far great looks, speed and noise. Nowhere near as luxurious as the m6 but still pretty comfortable. Drives like its glued down. Miss the heads up display and split screen on idrive the most. Different than a 911, to me it feels more special maybe a touch less precise. If anyone's considering one a two seater definitely check one out especially vs a 911. I'm still thinking of buying a used 997.1 since I prefer its dynamics to the 991, it feels more like a 911 to me and I I think there's still some value left in 997's but I also don't need two cars that are so similar. Luckily, there's some overlap and I get to drive around both cars for a few weeks. Feel free to ask any questions you might have about the gt.

Congrats! I love the gt. Would be a perfect stable mate to the m6 GC. Tune, downpipes, and exhaust on the gt will MURDER a stock 991 turbo.

Where in NY are you located? Curious because no local dealership around me had any thing bigger than a new M4 and definitely no AMG’s

Nice, thanks for sharing! I love my M6 and how i've got it setup, but i've been also eyeballing the AMG GT esp since its been depreciating and is in the mid 80s now! Very interesting that you said its not as luxurious as the M6! Does yours have all the interior upgrade, like the leather/exec package etc?

I've been looking at it mostly because it looks like a more aggressive handling car, yet retains the luxury. Would love some more feedback on this. Thanks mate

I was at the same page in summer 2016 to replace the M6. I did test drive many cars including 911 and AMG GTS. It's a really nice car but for two reasons I did not get the car. First the steering which was too light and less responsive for me. Next the DCT which was not as fast and aggressive as M DCT. Long story short I ended up to MT M4 and I'm happy till now
Let's see how M8 will be and wish it's a next replacement for me

Same here! Can't wait to see what BMW does with the M8, otherwise it's an AWD M5 for me next!

AMG GT is the only car I would contemplate getting in place of an M6 GC.

Love the styling of it! If only it wasn't bank-breaking..

My bmw dealer is Rallye bmw and the Mercedes is from MB of Huntington.

In response to the gt not being as luxurious as the m6, my gt has the full Napa leather as well as a few interior trim options and the seats are comfortable and very supportive but the m6 was a more comfortable car in terms of space, plusher seats, softer ride in comfort vs my gt I had soft close doors, ventilated seats (rarely used but nice to have), heads up display, massage seats, power sun shades. The m6 has more of a dual personality in super pursuit mode it was a complete animal the surge from 100-160 was epic and it held its own when I tracked it limerock. However, the gt is a purer sports car and I'm willing to give up some luxury because it looks great and drives very well. I do agree that the steering is light but I find it to be precise and the car puts power down very well something the m6 always struggled with. The exhaust note, especially with amg performance exhaust, is hilarious and overall the car feels glued down. Definitely going to miss the m6gc it is a great car but having two rwd fun cars isn't an option. Looking at used 640ix gcs and 535ix for winter and people carrying tasks, but plan to daily the gt otherwise.

The lease on my M6gc came up. Went shopping for a new car and bought another m6gc. Then again I do have gt3 as a weekend/track toy coming next month.

Live the GT, look like the classic Mercedes gullwing.

But how is the M6 on the track? So heavy? I'm curious though.

M6 is on track is a revelation. Heavy yes, but supremely capable, especially competition package! Put on some 4s's and cup2s and be ready to shock some really capable cars lol.
