Extended Warranty
Hi all
I have a 2014 650xi GC CPO with 64k miles and I have been receiving letters from BMW about my extended warranty that's gonna end around Sep, so I went to a BMW dealership and ask them about their extended warranty plans. They gave me a price quote of $5800 for just ONE more year!! So I was thinking about going with a third party warranty. Has anyone bought or has any ideas about what's the best company? |

Have you talked to only one dealer? I would call a few and compare. That is a very high sum especially if it's only for 1 year.
I am not familiar with US 3rd Party Cars' Warranty providers but came across this site which you may want to look at: https://a-protectwarranty.com/warranty-for-used-bmw/ |

Or consider not getting one and putting the money in the bank for any repairs. The odds are against you that it will need more repairs than the warranty costs.

Last fall my 2013 650x CPO ran out. I got a 3rd party Allstate service contract for 30K miles or 36 mo. for $4100 thru the BMW dealership. Reviews for all 3rd party deals were all pretty bad, but my dealer assured me they work well with Allstate and I felt better getting it at the dealership vs just some on-line plan. I hate buying extended warranties, but I kinda feel I would probably spend $4000 over 3 yr for work on a 6-9yr old 650. We shall see

3rd Party warranty
I recently bought a used 2014 650 convertible from an indy dealer. I also purchased a 3rd party 4 year 50k mi warranty, the 'platinum level' from that same dealer. Cost $4k and includes road service. A couple of months later I had the fuel pump fail. The indy dealer had the car picked up at my home and, after checking it out at their dealership, had it sent to the local BMW dealer for the work. I picked it up at the BMW dealer. It did not cost me a dime. Fuel pump job on a 650 is @ $2k here in New Jersey. So far so good with the warranty.
If you get one make sure everything is detailed in the policy as to what IS and MORE importantly what is NOT covered. |

i got an autopom warranty for 4 years for about $2400 with the standard exclusion list and an electronics package (freaks me out that there are so many in cars now.) i've had quite a few drivestrain malfuctions so i'm likely not going bmw again, and was expecting to pay about $6k for a 4-year warranty. i was still within my original warranty period when i bought this one, which supposedly helps though
