Oil Type for 2015 650xi GC

As my car is now out of the free service coverage from BMW, I think I will be bringing my car to a trusted local garage instead of paying BMW the very overpriced amounts they want for simple servicing.

Do you know what motor oil type and viscosity I should be buying for my '15 650 GC?

Thanks

It really depends on your driving profile. In General I would go for the Castrol / Mobil / or other top manufacturer LL01 0W40.
If you drive predominantly short distances (about 3-5 miles) you can go for the 5W30 and change it yearly.
Otherwise go with 0w40 LL01

Most of the drives I do are over 3-5 miles, and the distance to my office is 15 miles.

I would stick with OEM 0-30 dealer oil. Costs about $6-$7 per bottle

M1 0-40 lost LL-01 accreditation in the US. Plus they're on LL-01 FE now. IMO M1 0-40 is outdated oil

That was reason I mentioned more than just Mobil 1. the brand it doesn’t matter as kong as it is 0W40 and if you have LL01 even better.

So far this stuff has been pretty good form me. I can tell my motor runs a little smoother especial on initial start.
