High I can expect during Santa Anas is about 85.

I had a company come out to give me an estimate to put central A/C in for the wife's b-day. $17-28K, depending on options/warranties. So, I'll still be damp.

I do keep seeing those room coolers at HD for $3-500. I would have to put it in the bathtub to get the exhaust out the window, which means it would NOT blow on me in my bed, yet still chill the room.

Do they not have central AC as a standard feature in Oxnard? If not, is it because you're close to the coast, or is it in other homes there, or…?

Would say, is it because the homes are older? (Don't know if they are there)

My home has central AC and it was built in the mid 70s and I think that's pretty old.

No need. 14-21 days TOPS it's over 85 degrees. Mine was built in 1952, and we had to add central heating when we expanded. Maybe a few on the other side of the tracks have A/C from the start.
