Snapped fan/serpentine/aux belt

Has anyone ever had a fan/serpentine belt snapped whilst driving? Very scary as you lose power steering and sudden loss of engine power.
Just wondering what would cause this? And what can be done to prevent this reoccurring?

Any advice or shared experiences welcome!

Never happened, but as I'm in for major service, I have even bought the AC belt and the water pump/alternator/steering pump belt with all the other consumable.
I'm at 66k km or 41k miles.

I'm sure it is caused by the very high heat in the engine bay which results in the rubber cracking and loosing flexibility.
