2014 m6 drivetrain malfunction
Just the other day I got a drivetrain malfunction with check engine light on my 2014 bmw m6 coupe. Car died after the error and had to get it towed. Was just cruising at 40mph when it died.
Code reader is giving 3 codes p0087, p0040, and p15df. When I start the car it stutters and then dies 15 seconds later. I smell gas out the exhaust. Car is out of warranty so trying to fix the issue myself. Anyone have any ideas of what it could possibly be? Bad HPFP? Fuel filter? has 53000 miles. Changed the coils and plugs and still throwing the same codes. Thanks, Last edited by jstinc; 10-10-2018 at 10:04 AM.. |

I just had 3 injectors replaced they seem to go bad,
There is a extended warranty on your car up to 100/120k miles for fuel pumps and injectors free of charge. |

Prob limited on reading actual values which would be key to diagnosing your issues. P0087 is low pressure fuel code P0040 is oxygen sensor related code P15DF is HPFP related Based on your codes you might have a high pressure fuel pump issue. Try and see if you can monitor some real time actual values for deviations. If not an independent shop with proper tools would be best before throwing parts at the car. BMW just released a warranty extension on HPFP to 10 year / 120,000 miles SI B01 02 18: (DC 13 51 90 04 00): For this vehicle, the high-pressure fuel pumps (HDP - left and right side) limited warranty for defects in materials or workmanship has been extended to 10 year/120,000 mile as determined from the original in-service date. This coverage is subject to the same vehicle eligibility requirements, limitations, and exclusions that apply to the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks |
