2010 M6 or 2010 CL63 AMG?

I bought the M6! Did I make the right choice for performance and reliability?

Welcome...but wrong forum. A 2010 6 series is either an e63 (coupe) or e64 (vert). You posted on the next generation 6 series f12/f13 (coupe/vert) forum that came AFTER the e63/e64 6 series. Unfortunately, we don't have an e63/e64 forum here. But if you type one of the following phrases into a google search box...you'll probably get some good results...with the most active e63/e64 forum probably being near the top of the list: "BMW e63/e64 forum" or "BMW e63/e64 M6 forum"

And asking if you made the right choice on a specific forum vs its rival...I hope you're expecting to get a totally biased opinion unless someone that has owned both actually replies. And 99% of the time...if they are here, then you may still get a biased opinion.

Good luck.

I happen to have owned both. Quite different cars. The M6 V10 feels tighter and more agile. The V10 sounds great but, IMO, the car is let down by the SMG gearbox. I loved the rev matching but I just couldn't get on with it. It just doesn't work well in auto mode.

The CL63 AMG is a high performance luxury cruiser with a torque converter auto box. It's a beautifully made and stylish car. I've still got the CL although mine is a Brabus version which sounds even better than the V10.

You will always read of potential costly failures on both cars but I've run both practically maintenance free apart from routine servicing. The air suspension on the CL can be a costly maintenance item.

On balance I prefer the CL but if you're happy with the SMG you'll enjoy your M6.

The CL is definitely designed to be more luxurious and laid back than that generation of M6 with the V10 and the SMG. The M6 is 1710kg compared to about 2100kg for the CL63.

I love the shape of the C216 and I would love to have a CL65 or the later C217 S65 Coupe at some point just because of the V12, but I would need to have something smaller and lighter to have fun with as well such as an M2. The M6 for me does everything I could want in one car which is the special part of the car for me.
