I was putting together a bbq in the backyard when i heard a persistent buzzing... bees!
A small swarm was looking around for a new spot and rested on a tree in the green belt. I wish I could keep bees, but I don't have a large enough area, and they probably wouldn't do well with the dogs.

Some one would be more than happy to come collect them for you! Look at your local area bee hive club and they'll do it for free.

I would definitely get a beekeeper / someone knowledgeable involved. You don’t want to find a hive in your attic.

i think they are just resting... if i open my bbq tomorrow and they are in there, i'll call, but they are just on a tree not bothering anything. i'm thinking they'll move on soon.

I don't have anything special as far as yard equipment goes. Push mower, weed eater, edger, blower. Just your basic lawn care tools.

And if anyone is wondering, I'm doing better. It's rough, and it sucks, but I have to keep myself together.

Hybrid Bermuda . Now you need a McClane or Tru-Cut front throw reel mower . You can geek out on having golf course quality grass

No pre-emergent for me this spring. Backyard was a newly seeded lawn 1.5 years ago and not thickening up. See lots of matted areas now that the snow is gone (snow mold?) so I'm gonna rake then overseed the whole thing. Yay for an acre lot. :/

Got my bird feeder setup today. The clamp on the top rail is just ok, I might take it back for a different style.

What kind of seeds are you using? I was at the store just checking out the different varieties and no clue which one to get?

It's sunflower, millet, and I think safflower... I'll take a pic of the label. I'm kinda testing to see how much of a mess it makes.
They have no mess seed, but it's stupid expensive... like $47 for a 20lb bag. Not doing it.

So, you pay EXTRA for something the birds won't eat?

BRILLIANT!

Our pond is actually small - 18' wide and 12' front to back, 3' deep, but we enjoy it.

Well, you aren't paying for all the shell weight. So you're paying for 20lbs of actual food. Theoretically, you get more. Still not doing it. This 20lb bag was something like $27 but they gave me 15% off, so I just did it.

Every once in a while on amazon, there will be two 20lb bags for $20. I don't understand how they even ship 40lbs for that much, but they did it. Birds eat most of it, but do waste some of it.

Do you guys ever get packages of ladybugs or praying mantises? I got one of these last year and it was cool. A lot get eaten by something else, but a few will make it through and get huge. They spread out pretty quickly to look for food.

I haven't perfected my residential force-field, so not paying for bugs to fly away once I open the bag. Adding another 4-5 feet of chicken wire to the top of 8' clock wall was hard enough to keep chickens in coop

got around to some yard work as the weather was a nice 51 degrees after my workout at the gym in the morning. used my 52" lawn sweeper to get up the left over leaves from my red oak tree in the backyard. did a nice double aeration and threw down my pre emergent for crabgrass control
