COMMENTS

In July 2015 BMW M began rolling out an upgraded Competition Package for the BMW M6 Coupe, BMW M6 Gran Coupe and BMW M6 Convertible. The new Competition Package includes a power boost for the 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine of +40 hp to 600 hp. Peak torque also rises, from 501 lb-ft in to 516 lb-ft.

0-62 mph now takes just 3.9 seconds and 0-124mph is now accomplished in 11.8 seconds.

Here it is at the ongoing 2015 Tokyo Motor Show and some press photos.

That some mighty intense acceleration for relatively large and heavy luxury car.

With the FXX chassis BMW's nearing the end, The FXX 6er goes down as the best BMW overall for the FXX generation to me. Has everything you really want in a car - performance, utility as a 4-door (Gran Coupe), aesthetics.

Why is the Fxx done already? They used the Exx for like 30 years

So now we have the M upgraded to CP and M GTS to compete with AMG S and AMG BS, but also Audi S/ RS Plus models.
Important efforts done by each German manufacturer on the sport and practical car market!
With the G Series I think that M will be in front due to superior chassis

Looks good. The front looked dated at launch and has not aged well though. If rumours are true that next gen will shrink a bit - someone at bmw clearly had a size issue" when they designed this monster - it will be good news.

It needs to shrink. It is too big.

It's a GT car which by definition are not small cars to begin with.

they now break out every individual variation of everything. when it use to be just e46 for the coupe, sedan, convertible, wagon it only burned one number. now they are giving everything its own internal designation along with really long badges on the back. its a lil redundant now. example is f10 is the 5er while f11 is the wagon, f12 is the 6er coupe, f13 is the vert, f14 is gran coupe. and then they skipped calling the m3/4 the f30/32 and skipped right to the f80/82. now mini is included in there as well since they share platforms. i think we are already up to the g30 (next gen 5er)

F0x - 7 series/5GT
F1x - 5/6 series/X5/X6
F2x - 2 series/X3/X4
F3x - 3/4 series
F4x - X1
F5x - Mini
F8x - M

They still haven't used the F6x, F7x or F9x numbers, but perhaps the jump to G-series signifies a change in electronics and technologies as well so they wanted to differentiate from the F-series.

I believe they jumped to G because they are using the 35up platform now for all rwd models. It is possible they are reserving those codes for the upcoming 1er sedan and other random cars they introduce in mini. F60 is trademarked by Ferrari and F70 is LG Electronics. not sure if a platform code would infringe on that though.

They have, the next-gen M5 is the F90.

I think all BMWs in the Gxx range will use a 48v electrical/battery system, in addition to CLAR/carbon chassis elements.

That's very unconfirmed at this time. G90 seems more likely/appropriate.

*Gran Coupe, goddamnit.

My neighbor in TO had one in Liquid Silver with the Amaro/Platinum two tone full leather interior and CCBs. That paintwork is insane. The car looks permanently dripping with clear coat, I love it.
