Traded my 650 this weekend. So Long Guys

After owning my gently used 2013 650x convertible for over 5 yr, I felt it was time to ditch the 9yr old machine (it was made July 2012). Got a good deal on the trade and picked up a lease turn in 2019 Audi A7. Not as sexy as the 650 and 100 hp less, but still a very nice car.

Thanks guys for all the info gained here over the last 5 years.

Best of luck with the new addition. Ownership isn’t a requirement for participation…so feel free to drop by and contribute to any discussion that suits your fancy.

I need to back it out of the garage for a pic but its been raining since we got it.

On the 4hr highway drive home (we bought it 2 states over) It was very comfortable. Sport mode drops the car down about 20mm on an air suspension so it hugs the road much better than the 650. It has a spare tire so no hard run flats which also makes a difference. Its 4" longer and almost the same weight but just feels more nimble. I don't push my cars so I don't seem to miss the 100 hp difference.

The biggest difference is 9yr of techy stuff vs the BMW. This A7 has more touch screen settings than I can ever figure out. Stuff like you can select what color you want the interior accent lighting from 6-7 colors, 5 different dash views, massaging front seats

The 650 still has it over the A7 for exterior looks. The Audi looks like an oversized Chevy Malibu. Thats what I'll miss the most, that and putting the top down. What I won't miss was always worrying about getting an hour away from home and getting "Drive train Malfunction" which bit me once already.

The Audi dealership in St Louis already has my BMW on their internet for sale for $36,000 with 37K miles. I figured they would never put a 9yr old car on their lot, but that thing looks perfect.

Congrats! I'm heading out one state over today to take delivery of an AMG GT 63 S. I'm going to hang on to my 650 for a bit, the tech in the new GT is bananas and I LOVE me some tech, but I also love the analog feel of the 6er.

Enjoy the A7

Now that's what I am talking about-that GT S is a winner-in my opinion.

That's a lot for a 9 year old car

Shoot, this morning on Autotrader there is a 2013 convertible with 41K mi for sale for $42,000 from a dealer. Maybe I pulled the trigger to soon. These things must be highly sought after all the sudden.

They are not highly sought after. F12 convertibles can sit unsold for months because the number of people who want them is small. But I have noticed that some sellers ask very high prices for cars with relatively low miles. They ask, but I doubt they get it. It's even worse for the predecessor E63 model. Some sellers still ask high 30s for low mileage cars, but you can get a nice one for 15k. Some sell for under $10k.
