On the occasion of the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS), BMW today announced U.S. pricing for the 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe, the 2013 650i Gran Coupe, and the 2013 650i xDrive Gran Coupe.

Including destination and handling, the all-new BMW 640i Gran Coupe will carry a MSRP of $76,895. The BMW 650i Gran Coupe and the 650i xDrive Gran Coupe will be priced at $87,395 and $90,395 respectively.

The 2013 640i Gran Coupe will go on sale in late June with the 650i Gran Coupe and the 650i xDrive Gran Coupe to follow in September.

In BMW's words, "the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is a new 4-door, 4+1 seat addition to the 6 Series line that combines the stunning proportions, design and driving dynamics of the 6 Series Coupe with interior room and amenities for up to five passengers. Harmonious proportions, precise lines and sleekly contoured surfaces give the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe the unique ability to satisfy the driver who wants a luxurious and sporty coupe yet needs a car capable of carrying four adults in comfort and luxury."

Also check out our ongoing coverage from NYIAS 2012 on our HOMEPAGE.

hmmm, M5 for $90K or 650GCxi for $90K

I guess in the real world they will sell alot of 650s but any true driving enthusiast and most people on this forum it would not even be a question, M5 all the way.

I wonder who comes up with these prices. Both four door vehicles, one of which will hold its value more than the other.

Another overpriced BMW, but still m5 will be far more lucrative at this price point.

I am prepared to call anyone that buys a 650i/xi Gran Coupe over an M5 an idiot.

yeah it rediculous, bmw has completely f*d this up, you cant have a 4 door non M in the same size class as the M5 that costs as much if not more than the M5, it makes no sense and is counter to all logic.

A lot of buyers will get more use out of the better/nicer interior of the 650i GC than they will the M5. It's not like the fellow (non-enthusiast) with $100K to burn on a new car will think he's hurting for power when he puts his foot in the 650i.

Different priorities, for different folks.

maybe its bmw's way of saying...'you can't decide if you want an M5 or 650x? Get both! Along with the new X6M around the same price'

Exactly. 6er and 6erGC pricing is just weird. Also I would never spend $16k over a CLS550 either. The CLS will own this segment.

Exactly

As for myself - the GC has more than enough power, and is more premium than the M5.
Different people, different taste, a great thing having choices imo.

Well, I was telling my mom to hold off ordering her 550i x-drive, and wait for the 650i GC x-drive. These price points pretty much kill that; this is 911 territory.

Based on price solely yes a 650 over an m5 is stupid. But BMW is obviously going after two completely different markets with each car. As great as I think the 650 is (unreal interior) I honestly feel like it is a woman's car. My mom drives a 535i with an m sport package now and I see this as her next upgrade. Any man would by the m5 or a 750.
