M6 LED Adaptive Lights
Can anyone confirm if I have the LED Adaptive Lights as shown in this video? My build codes include 552 and 8S4 options, but I don't think I've observed them operating as shown. However, I haven't been looking because I wasn't aware of the technology until just the other day and really haven't driven the car much at night in the month I've had it.
Just curious... |

Adaptive LED was available in 2016. I see your car is a 2013, so no.

Answer is yes. We all have adaptive high beams on our M6 as standard option. Various BMWs got the feature starting in 2012/3 as standard/option. Look in your manual on how to use it.
The LCI changes are simply cosmetic changes to the headlights. The bulbs were reconfigured for LCI headlights.

So, should I decide to try that out, where would I be looking and what sort of change should I expect, if any? |

MGMARSH39 I have the exact same car as you, 2015 M6 GC Competition, do we have the adaptive headlight as described? I tried it several times on dark road but it just seems like it just turns off and on automatically, instead of fully adapting like in the video.

If you check your build sheet, you'll probably find code 8S4A 'Decoding variable light distribution' which is what deprograms the headlamps from functioning in the manner depicted in that video. My understanding is that all adaptive headlamps are equipped with the necessary hardware, but archaic DOT regulations do not permit this function in the US. So once again our government is "here to help".

Hi colonial cousins. My car has options 552 (adaptive LED headlights with matrix function) & 5AC (High-Beam Assistant). To get the adaptive to function correctly, as per the video,
you first have to activate (switch on stalk to ‘A’ ) them if you don’t all that happens is high beam and low beam no matrix function. Perhaps your models aren’t configured for such magic Hahaha |

Here is info from the TIS that explains the high beam assist that European markets got and the US & Japanese markets DID NOT: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...stant/Ie9ZQN09

It works to a certain limit. It can move the beam light and turn off/start parts as-well. Though the EU version detects signs and changes the beams to hit them directly, which I haven't been able to do (on my own) I did thought get it to work via BMW techs. The reason BMW never allowed it in America was that the DOT restricted it. Though this was changed at the end of 2018. I was able to convince my tech (through some haggling, and googling of DOT rules) to get this feature to work while it was in the shop for a routine oil change. It works great, exactly the EU version. Sometimes doesn't detect some signs, but it's been pretty good. |

The LCI LED headlight has been retrofitted. Can anyone determine if the non-glaring high beam is working? |
