"If it is so "normal" find out what you car is worth, and then ask them to buy your car, and see what they say and how much they offer you for it. I bet their tune changes then."

They claim that it is BMW USA that determines what to do, not them. In addition, they always low ball on trades.

Different car but I've had my C63 from 12,000km. At the start of ownership it would complain it was low on oil about 4,000km after an oil change which means it needs about 1 litre. I've done oil changes every 10,000km so the very first time I topped it up twice before changing the oil, then the next time it was about 4,500km, then when I go to about 9,800km it asked again, so just over 5,000km between needing a litre. It has continued to get better and from 90,000km to 100,000km (just last week) it didn't actually request for a top up at all! I guess this is from slowly wearing in. Has anyone had something similar with the S63tu where it has used less and less over time?

That's crazy. My m6 has used zero oil in 10,000 miles since last service.

I had it mapped at 1500 miles from new to 725bhp and it get driven pretty hard.

While I agree, BMW does not think so. 1.5 liters per 1 kilometer is insane (imho, plus arrrgh metric). However, not much I can do about it since I fall above their minimal guideline. I am under warranty until 10/18 and they will refill for free, so I guess I will live with it. By then it will be just another 6 year old car with 65k miles.

Yeah BMW set a pretty low bar. While some never consumes oil, I could accept a few thousand miles like what most have experienced here, but your case is too extreme. I don't think a normal engine should consume that much oil.

I agree, but as long as they give me oil, it runs fine and I am covered by a warranty, I guess I can't worry about it. However, I will trade it in before my extended warranty expires.

Isn't the free oil top up part of the service plan rather than the warranty?

I am totally shocked at lack of willingness to examine the engine, obviously it means too much complicated labour work. I have had similar problem in fact worse as mine was coming out average of 280-300 miles per litre. UK states 650 miles per litre, 750 per 1.5 ,litre.

The problem lies in the block, worn or misaligned piston, cylinder walls out of tolerance, piston rings damage, etc , could be anything.

Do you have a BMW warranty? if you don't it would be your biggest regret as you could have pursued for a new engine.

Prior to my final battle with BMW I had consulted a motor trade specialist solicitor and he knew what he could get for me i.e new engine block rebuilt at the local dealer, 1 year free extended warranty which is worth £1400 in UK.
Plus £2K off the purchase bill.

Next time strictly tell them to ONLY add 1 litre per refill, not 2. It will give you better estimate of average consumption. Plus the correct way of measuring oil would be not to follow the oil gauge but to actually weigh the oil between 2 readings.

IM6, I am under warranty. The issue is BMW USA. They are saying 1.5 liters per 1,000 kilometers, or 1 quart every 421 miles. They are also now advising to add two quarts everytime the sensor says at minimum. All I can say its I went 1,034 miles before the warning. I met with the service manager today as they toped off the engine. he gave me two additional bottles of oil as well. He said he would escalate again and see what he could do. I really have no leverage.

THis is wrong, You need to get on to BMWUS immediately and tell them you need to speak to BMW M department in Germany, they cant one rule for Europe and another for US.
421 miles per litre is absurdity.

You have Warranty which covers your engine malfunction.

You need to get on to BMWUS immediately... I did and they have told the dealer no repair, its within their guidelines. 1.5l per 1km driven is acceptable use. I am above that so no repair.

Do you have a lot of oil deposit on your tail pipes, mines used to charcoal within 50 miles from fresh wash.

Its crazy, if the engine is actually burning a litre of oil in 400 miles you should be able to see the smoke clouds behind you, especially on full throttle / overrun. Has anyone followed you to check this?

As said are the tailpipes sooty, what about the back of the car?

"Next time strictly tell them to ONLY add 1 litre per refill, not 2. It will give you better estimate of average consumption" I know this, 674, 594, 574 miles per bottle....then they started the 2 bottle rule

"As said are the tailpipes sooty, what about the back of the car?" They are definitely black, impossible to clean to chrome at this point, but were mostly like that when I bought at 32k so I do not know cleaning history. Rest of back is clean though.

No clouds of smoke but will try the follow test next week.

How many miles ago did you last have those exhaust tips clean and shiny? Mine stay clean for ages, and I don't need to top up between oil changes...
