The touchpad on the iDrive controller was standard for the LCI years. The ceramic controls are indeed an option.

Active Seats adds a massage-like function to the seat. It's not really designed to massage you as it is to keep your body from fatiguing on long trips. It continuously moves under you, shifting your weight ever so slightly left and right. I find it works pretty well.

Just as ezmaas explained...it isn't like a jujitsu EZ chair massage pad...the active seat raises and lowers each butt cheek respectively...gently rocking your pelvis to help prevent fatigue in the lower back. It's similar to what you do naturally on a long trip when you've sat in one position for a long time...and you twist your hips to shift your weight. Well...the BMW massaging feature does the same thing but S-L-O-W-L-Y...again, raising and lowering one butt cheek at a time.

It's slow...but obvious. The engineers/designers probably had to work with how to make it work but not annoying.

Someone correct me if my estimated timing is off...but it takes like 20-30 seconds (per butt check) to gently raise, then gently lower...then it starts on the other butt check.

This is right - it's a fairly slow process, but obvious that it's happening. It's not distracting or annoying, though, and it's just designed to make sure you don't settle into one position for too long.

My wife used to be like that but now she tells me that I'm going to do what I want anyway so might as well just do it. I showed her the wing and she said buy it and consider it a wedding anniversary present... She ordered herself some earrings so it worked out
