Buying a BMW M6 GC Warranty Help!

Hey guys,

I am looking for buy a 2016 BMW M6 GC CPO that has the manufacture warranty expiring in literally two weeks on 09/03/2019 and its certified so the CPO will take it to 09/03/2020. I asked the warranty guy at the dealership how much it would be to get an extended warranty and he quoted the following prices:

Manufacture warranty: 4 yrs 50k
Full certified warranty: 1 year (incl all mechanical)
unlimited mileage (sept 2020)

-Maintenance pkg: starts from service date - sept 03

2 yr, 100k - $4495
5yrs, 125k - $6022

Extended Warranty coverage:
- 2 years extended: $9790

Dont these prices seem high and isnt there something called CPO wrap? I thought it was around $2k to extend that 1 year?

Any advice?

These are ridiculous prices. Also, who drives an M6 100k miles in 2 years? Makes no sense to me. Get a reputable third-party warranty that your dealership is known to work well with.

I paid $3700 for 3 years/36k miles full warranty (extended/platinum whatever they call it) with a $50 deductible. So far, replaced 4 injectors, all ignition coils, air filters, steering wheel (this because the dealership scratched it), no issues at all. It covers everything except regular maintenance items.

And to add to that, I bought twice a year prepaid oil changes for 3 years for $650 because this one likes to drink oil like there is no tomorrow.

Extended is more comprehensive than the CPO wrap. IMO CPO is good enough

Have not heard of them. My dealership itself offers their own warranty because the CPO prices aren't very popular. Ask your dealership if they have anything like that? Or you can shop around multiple if you have more than one BMW dealer nearly. Try to get one from where you plan to service your car if possible.

Oh, and let me stress one more thing -- whatever the reason (warranty becomes too expensive, or stressful to shop, etc.) .. DO NOT, under any circumstances, own this car without a proper warranty.

I am sure you already knew that, but thought I'd stress it out one more time

How long do you plan to keep the car?

Whatever warranty you select, engine coverage is a must. I agree with earlier comment not to purchase the vehicle without a warranty.
