Bootmod3 non-comp vs comp tune?

So curious if there is anyway to use BM3 to reflash a non-competition M6 (560HP) with a competition tune (600HP)? Would seem like a super safe bump in power. Looking at going 93oct stage 1 OTS, but thought this might be an interesting alternative and watched someone do a similar flash on an M4.

It won't be identical but honestly I'd go with a BMS stage one or maybe a racechip?

530hp up to 600hp (at the wheels)

Or up to 660hp on the racechip

Part of my thoughts around BM3 vs piggyback is that I would assume a full ECU flash (in particular starting with the comp code) would yield greatest overall drive-ability and part throttle response. Having spent time coding ECUs for chevy V8s way back when, even then the number of variables and tables was insane. I haven't looked at the deep engineering on piggybacks, but there can only be so much fine adjustment made to all aspects of the ECU that way. My total goal is not just raw power, but an across the board improvement. Perhaps I've overthinking it.

Thanks

BM3 does offer a Stage 0 Competition Map as a free option. I agree with you, I prefer the full ECU flash rather than a piggyback. I'm running a Stage 2 BM3 tune on my car with no issues at all.

Its possible as AZNTwins said stage 0 is the competition tune but that is the 575 HP not the 600 HP (in my case), I believe that "600HP" CP tune started in 2015.

I used it for a while, Power isnt that crazy. I have few logs if you would like me to share it with you.

If you are looking for 600 whp stage 1 93 oct is the right one.

Really appreciate the data!! Very interesting. So it looks to me like the stage 0 is still holding back the engine quite a bit (still). AFR targets are starting 15 down to 12.5, boost is held back to 16.8, run is super clean and easy. stage 1 is now looking for afr 12.5 to 12, boost 21.8. Also looks like stage 0 is trying to modulate torque with the throttle angles, stage 1 is full beans. Stage 1 also has another degree or so of timing across the board.

In both cases, no knock, no HPFP target miss, no problem with LPFP, nothing that indicates engine is anywhere near the limit. What I've noticed in many dyno logs of these motors, is if anything the turbos spool faster than the ECU can hold them back resulting in some weird stuff in the 2500-3000 range if you go 100% that low. nothing major, just some power output oscillations.

Stage 1 93 oct might be just what I'm looking for.

Also, looking at the turbo side of things the stage 1 tune hit boost target the whole way with just a nice steady WGDC increase from 50 to 60. Indicating turbo still has room to go and their aren't any major restrictions on the flows in or out.

M6Roar, did you have downpipes on when that was pulled?

That would indicate the factory cats flow pretty well.

Bringing this thread back to life….

For those that have the BM3 stage 1 tune…
Does it make a difference if your car is comp pack or base?

I'm currently running the bm3 stage 1 on a CP and wondering if that tune is for base models only…

Is there a better option to running a stage 1 for comp packs?
