My tech said drive aggressively too. I also drive s3, mdm, sport plus suspension, sport plus throttle and sport steering (unless raining). I am second owner so maybe first babied her (he was a late 60s owner)

This is my weekend fun car that is tuned with HCP, downpipes, intakes with new plugs and sees multiple 60-130 pulls a week. I had blackstone report done with nothing out of the ordinary on first oil change and will do again on July 5th. Just adding data to the thread.

aann, no you do not need to add oil, can way until first warning.
sw1183 1000 miles per quart is not too bad. Try 5w-40 if you want to see possible slower consumption.

Mine is a 2014. Bought it CPO at 5400 mi. I am now at 24500 and for the FIRST time, I had to add oil. I've had dealer oil changes so far. No change in my driving habits. I ended up going with Mobil 0W 40 for the top off and will likely switch to it on my next oil change. Guys at the M5 forum seems to have good experience with it with decreased oil consumption.

Are you using Mobil 0W-40? From their website, they are no longer "BMW Approved". But they still have the European car formula.

Well my test is now over (for now). My timing cover case was leaking oil so they replaced and as part of the work, they did a full oil change. Back to 0w-30. Maybe this will solve the loss of oil?

During the "hot" season, you can use 5W 30 or 5W 40 to reduce the oil consumption a little bit. In very cold weather, you should stick to a 0W XX to have good lubrication at startup, which is the period of highest wear.

Not sure why you would go to 10w40 instead of 5w 40? If you were using 0w 30 originally i would slowly increase the viscosity instead of just jumping to the thickest right away. 0w30>0w40>5w 30>5w 40> 10w 40>5w 50 (not on recommended list). The first number is important depending on climate where you live. I would never run 10w anything in these IMO. I like the cold start protection of the 0w. I'm using 0w 30 but may move to 0w 40 for the increased viscosity at high Temps. It takes longggg for mine to warm up, can only imagine what 10w 40 would take. Some ppl on here know what they're talking about but some just talk.

I have 107,xxx miles on my M6 GCComp and have never had to add oil. I've had the car since 45k miles and I have been meticulous with it since. I change oil every 4K miles with BMW 5w40. Take climate, from where you live, into consideration when picking your oil. I live in SoCal so we don't see cold temperatures much, or if any at all😅.
