BTW - how's the exhaust note on the M6 competition? Does it come standard with MPE or some BMW performance exhaust?

My M4 sounded like a lawn mower and I never got around to getting the MPE.

you need to do some youtube or forum searches on what each sounds like. But I'm going to clarify some items for you.

There are only 3 exhausts a M6 can be fitted with from the factory/port install by BMWNA:
1. Exhaust for non-ZCP cars
2. Exhaust for ZCP cars
3. M Performance Exhaust (MPE) - port, dealer, or aftermarket installed. The MPE is made by Akrapovic and has all the akrapovic stampings on it. In fact, without the M Performance tips, you cannot tell a MPE from an Akrapovic Evo exhaust. Port/dealer installed means the exhaust is warrantied by BMW under its branded warranty (original, extended, or CPO).

All 3 sounds different. All 3 can be retrofitted regardless of whether you have ZCP or not.

A "M6 Competition Edition" is a special edition M6 coupe with packaged ZCP and some M Performance cosmetic goodies including the MPE and carbon tips. https://www.6post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1173192

Most of us doesn't refer to the older models as "competition" as BMW is doing with the new generation of ZCP cars (F90 M5 Competition, etc). So we either call it "CP" or "ZCP". IMO, I prefer ZCP as it's the order code on the build sheet. Not even sure where "CP" came from on the interwebs.

And yes, the stock F8X M3/4 sounds terrible with the factory exhaust. But that's the inherent sounds of a inline 6 gas motor. All gasoline V8s will have a deep growl. The downpipes and exhaust will play a big factor too, but the base sound is created by the exhaust manifold and design of the engine. I've heard all sorts of exhausts on the F8X cars. They all sound like a lawn mower, difference is just whether it's a loud, raspy or soft lawn mower.

Not in person. Considered buying it. Ask for the service history. Or I can send it to you. Original owner wasn't aware of the 1200 mile service (I spoke with him). He brought it in at 9,430 miles. Car looks to be in amazing condition. Original owner told me it was otherwise in excellent condition and well cared for. BMW will not CPO it, if that matters to you. Let me know if you want more info. I passed and bought a different one.

Thanks Mike. I'm going to see the car tomorrow. Not sure missing that 1200 miles service would be a deal breaker for me. I won't keep it more than a couple of years. Other than the oil change, not sure they do much at the 1200. Is that why they won't CPO it?

It looks beautiful. I love the Aragon brown full leather. If you're only keeping it for a couple of years I wouldn't worry. I believe they change the engine & diff oil at 1200 miles, possibly with a different grade than the initial fill. I've seen a few debates on what they actually do.

Let us know how it looks and if you buy it. Just wanted to share some knowledge I had on the car.

How do you know if the M6 has 600hp?

Does all 2016+ with the Competition Package have the upgraded 600hp?

I can't tell from BMWVIN as it doesn't list any change in HP.

I appreciate it. Did you learn anything further from the service records or talking with the owner?

So, I had a chance to drive it today. Very clean. Beautiful color combo. As noted above, no power trunk or adaptive cruise. Car drives tight and boy it's fast. Sound was good, didn't really get a chance to scream it.

They just dropped the price to $66.5k.

Waiting to see what numbers I can get from the dealer.

M6 GC is an amazing car. I see why you all have one.

That's how I understand it. 2016 M6 has the new headlights & the CP has 600HP.

I think 15’ had 575 hp, but the difference is academic, can’t notice the difference in real life. My 14’ F13 with Michelin P4Ss felt faster (575 hp) than 17 F06 with OEM P-Zeros (600 hp)...

The 575/600 added power in all ZCP cars are pointless. The extra power kicks in at the top 1000 RPMs right near redline. So in daily driving you won't access it.

What ZCP adds substantially is the revised steering rack, ZCP exhaust, and stiffer suspension. Some ZCP cars are outfitted with 601 wheels. These are what you'll really see and feel right away.

Funny I almost bought that vehicle at Passport. My brother knows the service manager and we were told the same thing. I was working with the sale rep Peter. The internet manager said they wouldn't come down much on the price so I ended up buying one in Orlando from Fields BWM with 22k miles for 64k. This guy also missed the 1200 mile service but did have it serviced at 2500k.
The one I purchased is black on black with the executive and competition package, driving and parking assistance, full merino leather and night vision. Overall a better deal considering 8k less miles and a few more upgrades. Adcampo, I suggest offering them 62K.

Thanks for all the input. $62k is aggressive. I like it!

Sales guy pinged me again today to see of I'm still interested. I'm going to email him and tell him a bought a different car. They'll be looking forward to receiving your $62k offer.

So, I offered $62k. They came back saying "with shop costs and reconditioning they don't have that much room". Their "floor" on the car is $65.5k.

I've learned that they paid just under $60k for the car.

I told them I'm passing. We'll see what they say.

Have you considered what’s the likelihood of someone from the dealership following this forum... 😇

Thanks, I have. Nothing here I think would influence the outcome for me.

My experience on car forums is there are some dealers/SA's that are very active and considered excellent resources. Passport doesn't strike me to be one of them. But I could be wrong...

Is it a CPO? IF it's a CPO $65 indeed is very close to their bottom line....
