Aftermarket carbon: my results

There is a surprising amount of affordable aftermarket carbon available for this car that you can order off Aliexpress. Figured I'd share my adventures here.

Front lip. ~$450 shipped. Actually on my 2nd one after I ran the first one up a curb. Needed to drill my own mounting holes. Reinforced with 3M VHB tape.

Rear diffuser. ~$500 shipped. Needed to drill my own mounting holes. Reinforced with 3M VHB tape along the outer edge.

Side skirts. ~$500 shipped. Entirely attached with 3M VHB tape (a lot of it!).

Rear spoiler + front grille. Packaged deal ~$275 shipped. Spoiler attached with 3M VHB tape.

Shifter cover. ~$60 shipped. Not the same flush fit as the original plastic cover, and needed some adjustment to sit properly.

Exhaust tips (70mm x 93mm). ~$200 shipped.

Fender cover. ~$200 shipped. Not a replacement. Just sits on top. Attached with 3M VHB tape.

Not carbon, but a nice little add. Larger iDrive wheel. ~$11 shipped.

Since you’re heavily invested in carbon exterior, I recommend you to buy a set or 2 of sliplo or equivalent product to protect the front lips/rear diffuser from scraping. Also for side skirt, you can buy m7x50mm everbilt (818168) to screw a few into the original holes.
Car looks great btw!

Got the major pieces from EBMotor (you can see the box in the rear diffuser pic). The other pieces came from CQY, JSpeed, Carmon, YC-Tuning.

Got the Sliplo. It works great. Just one box was needed for the front. Doesn't really work for the rear as much since it's the tips of the fins that take the hits.

Can you post more pics of the tips? I'm looking to upgrade the stock ones and those look pretty good.

Would really like a link to the spoiler and exhaust tips please....

Also, how did you remove the factory tips and spoiler?

The original listings are gone and don't appear to be available anymore, but you can probably find similar listings from other sellers.

Removing the old tips can be done using a pulley puller since they are slip-on style. I cut a piece of wood to brace it. I used one from Harbor Freight. There's juuust enough room to do it without having to take the bumper off, but you need to be careful. Added an image to show the measurement of the pipe diameter after the original tip removed (I had the competition mufflers w/ the black tips). Alternatively you can find youtube videos of people banging on these tips with hammers to get them off...

Looks great. How was the rear diffuser fit and install process? I bought the same one from EBmotors a few years ago and haven't found the time to install.

Rear diffuser was fine. There were no pre-drilled holes to go with the existing screws, so had to do that myself which required some time and patience. Clearance with the exhaust tips was tight, but worked out.

Looks like listings on AliExpress have dried up recently. Maybe they'll come back.

Search for BMW idrive wheel on Aliexpress. It basically just sits on top of the existing wheel.
