Bluetooth problems. Or acting up

Is it me or this Bluetooth function is getting worse? Previous model was a challenge with my phone as well. It drives me crazy that the music keeps switching between Apple Music and the music I wanna play let's say from Pandora or Spotify on my phone. Or it's just an issue with Apple phones? Ha, or I don't know how to use it

I think it has to do with the IPhone , Apple Music is the default player so when you restart the car it reverts back to Apple Music it’s annoying, and yes I find it worse on the newer interface, I have a 2017 330 sport wagon and I find the layout better on the 15 M6 GC , more shortcut buttons and Bluetooth less annoying.I want to make Spotify as my default on my IPhone but didn’t figure it out yet that’s if I can ?

I personally don't use apple music for anything, so I just deleted it off my phone so it wouldn't default to it. Just an idea
