2016 640i GC x-Drive M-sport... Hi and Bye!
So I owned a 2016 640i xDrive M-sport (CPO) from October 2019 until a few days ago. I used to use e90post when I had a 2007 328xi, which I owned from 2009 to 2019. I loved that car and I would still be driving it if it didn’t crap out at 90K miles (AWD, main car-length wiring harness and oil leak) – I was on the fence about repairing, but decided I wanted to try the 640. I think it’s one of the more beautiful cars BMW has ever made, and one of the few that the European pedestrian standards did not ruin. I think maybe the very long hood allowed it to not have as high a hood end?
I never got to posting here because I didn’t want to modify it while it was still under CPO. I hadn't had it long before that I felt I had made a bad purchase decision ![]() ![]() Pics: Car at delivery. I don’t have any good pics of the front with the 19s on it… Car with 18s and snows; I believe these rims were offered on early 6’s, it didn’t look that bad, but they didn’t completely work with the M-sport trim. [Those rims/tires will be for sale, only a few thousand miles on the snows, but the rims are repainted badly.] Finally, a pic of the 6 in my garage in what I would call the most appropriate parking space ever for a 6-series. Yes, those plates are all real and it took me a decade of eBay surfing to collect them. Happy Motoring, Peter in Vermont [need to update signature, but I still have 325cic and 850ci]

Like my late 435i better than my 17 640i
Love the plates wall, gonna finish the rest of the garage? Why all the “666”? Last edited by Chaos236; Yesterday at 06:22 AM.. |

Agree with your statement, the 6's is beautiful car, difficult to handle & l am over 6" l have hard time parking the thing, but so is the 8 series, not as beautiful as the 6's but difficult to handle too.

In regards to “hard to park”...I find the rear/side/front cameras help tremendously...which does away with the “hard to park” argument (for me). I also find the times when there are curbs and you’re driving slow or leaving a parking space or lot & you know there are concrete curbs but you can’t see them...just press the PDC button (or the iDrive control button if you need to quickly switch the view) and if you have side/rear/front view cameras...you can now see how close/far the curbs are and if you’re about to scrape up your alloy rims.
![]() I do the above in my f06 GC and f15 X5 when confronted with concrete curbs that I can’t see. Maybe that tip can help with any BMW model that has side/front/rear cameras when trying to park or leave a parking space. ![]() All the best with the new 3 series...the F30 is a great platform in my opinion. EDIT: I just remembered that I coded (using the Bimmercode app) my cameras to stay on longer than the default from the factory...so that may be something some can’t do if the cameras shut off too early.
