It definitely is the edge/"corner" of the tire rubbing only on full/sharp turns. Shallow turns cause no rubbing.

Can you measure from centre cap to centre cap of your wheels? It should be 2851mm. Also post up a perfectly side on picture of the front wheel with it dead straight ahead?

brad850csi you may be on to something here.

The driver side center to center measures 2878mm. That difference could easily contribute to the rubbing. Out of curiosity and to confirm my measurements were accurate (as possible) I measured the passenger side too. What's interesting is that the passenger side measures 2862mm. Not clear why both sides are not the same. Alignment issue?

I've included a pic of the wheel/tire as close to center/side as I could manage.

To me it looks like the space/ gap between the fender and the tire is not equal and much closer in front.

Yeah that looks way too far forward to me. I’m at an event for about 5 hours so I can’t rush out and take a photo to compare but I’m sure that is wrong.

I suspect you have a suspension arm bent forwards.

Yes, or I wonder if incorrect caster could move the wheel that much forward. Interesting, appears that this is an issue on both sides as both measurements are off (if 2851 mm is what it should be), and both sides rub...

Do these help? Not of a wheel only, but I think they show the wheel position in relation to the wheel well...

I checked mine and it is about 2854mm for the wheelbase, slightly longer than it should be but possibly due to the angle of my driveway or something - definitely much closer to what it should be than your car is.

I found some press release photos showing that the tyre looks much more centred in every other photo

looks like you may have incorrect geometry, bent arm or something up there. That definitely is not normal

Yeah I seen the pic , thats definitely off center,I would take it to a BMW dealer and have them do a full check on you wheel alignment, I messed around with Lowering my Denali years ago,and the mechanic said to get the adjustment right so my tires don’t wear wrong it’s going to pull the wheel closer to the rear of the fender well , It rubbed on full lock , I’m just trying to say there probably is an adjustment to re center the wheel , Good luck

Final update on this issue!

Local body shop racked the car and determined:
1) there was some scrape/impact damage on the front bumper, underside, that was previously repainted
2) brackets holding the inner wheel well cover were bent on both sides

They fixed the brackets and no more rubbing.

Thanks to everyone who provided thinking and suggestions to solve this. Mystery solved.
