LED Projectors Installed

Went to the dealer today and they matched the online price I found for the LED projectors - and - (I know it’s a simple procedure) they installed them for free. I think they’re super cool.

No, it's not upside down. It stands for WalMart.

That is pretty dam* funny the dealer put them in upside down. Or maybe this is a rare WSport car.

Also, most people show these on relatively white concrete. What do they look like on black asphalt?

No, they’re not. They point the same way as the m on the floor Matt and the door sill.

They match the door sill exactly. You read the M on the way in.

Sorry, and I am not here to hijack this post, but it looks ridiculous. These type of gimmicks are for Honda Civic Si fanboys, not BMW 650 GC owners.

They are upside down. The fact that they line up with the door sill is not the point. When you get in the car you are standing between the door sill and the door. You look to your right to the sill and to your left to the door. So they are upside down. Just google "BMW M door projector" and click on images. They are pretty much all the opposite of yours. But really, what does it matter.

Technically, they are, if anything, backwards. Lol! And I have looked online at several of them and they are shown both ways. Frankly, Opies55, I’m a little confused but the whole thing now. We read from left to right, so in that case, my projectors read properly, not to mention the fact that they also match the direction of the mats, valve stem caps, and door sill logos. On the other hand, am I completely wrong? It’s a simple fix, and I’ll look at it for a bit longer before I dig them out and change them. If you think about it, they are going to be backwards from one point of view 50% of the time. When you get in, and then when you get out.

I probably would not have commented in this thread...but the fact that the dealership offered to install them for "free"...but then installed them backwards is kind of hilarious.

As mentioned...the lights are being viewed from the perspective of standing between the open door and the car's interior...so they should be seen as a mirrored affect. Just like your hands (for an example)...the left hand's thumb is on the right side...and the right hand's thumb is on the left side. If your thumbs were on the same side of each hand...then that would be odd.

I bet if the OP had gone with the BMW door projector lights...it would have been more noticeable that the projector had been installed upside down...especially when standing in the door and you see WMB projected on the ground.

If the projectors get reversed...then they'll only appear backwards to the person opening the door for you...but for the passenger getting into the car...the projectors will be installed correctly...and I think that is who the projector lights are for...the person entering the car...not the one standing on the opposite side of the door.

Yeah, I see your point. It was my call to install them the way they are. I thought they should align with the mats and sills. I’m sure that they’ll swap them for me if I ask. I can probably do it myself as well. Thanks for your input.

At least it will be something easy to do...there's no harm done.

It is very easy. You can just flip out the light, disconnect and plug in the new one. You do not have to disassemble anything else. A five minute job..

If you were on Amazon.com...how did you miss the installation instructions? Just about every other add has the instructions posted. See examples below.
