My recollection, somewhat hazy, is that in the 1970s Road and Track (or was it Car and Driver?) did a few articles about the Cyclops, with Stan? Mott being the author and thus, Mott backwards, T Tom Meshingear the driver of the car. I recall the construction relying heavily on cardboard, or plywood. But these were illustrated articles, humor fiction, and there were no photographs and no real cars. Obviously some readers were more inspired than I, and built something like the Cyclops.
Do others recall this? Can you fill in more details or correct my errors? Edit: apparently the articles I saw were near the end of the joke, and this link has a bit of the history. https://www.conceptcarz.com/z21296/Cyclops-II.aspx |

![]() I think he had quite a few fans who enjoyed his humor, and thus built facsimiles of the Cyclops, which of course was intended as humor as well.
