Question 6WB M logo

Has anyone managed to get M650i or M performance logo on their 6WB cluster? I read somewhere else that you need to update the KOMBI to the latest I-level to make it work, but I haven't seen any photos of anyone who's actually done it and had success on a 6 series? Anyone here has it working?

It looks cool if only it didn't say 550d!

Since there was no M650i..I'd assume that one is not doable...unless you know how to create and somehow write it to the module.

The screenshot below is from the Bimmercode website (https://bimmercode.app/cars/f12/) that shows the instrument cluster display coding options:

Yeah whenever I select any of those options (BMW, M performance..) from BimmerCode, it gives me the same thing, M550d.

So I'm wondering if anyone had better success? Like just showing the M logo or BMW?

I do recall this being discussed at some length in threads maybe 2 or more years ago, and I don't recall anyone being successful.

Garage List
From what I remember reading a while back the old software would display correctly, but anything that's been updated shows the M550d logo now. I never got it to work.

Can anyone explain why one would code a model nomenclature into the instrument cluster that is not what the car is? I’m totally flummoxed as to a desire for any 640d/640i/650i “vert/coupe/GC owner to want their instrument cluster to say the car is a M550d.

Me too. Anything for an M logo I guess. But I'm more curious how that was the option coded into the software in the first place.

I assumed that the coding selections are there due to the 6WB cluster being used across multiple platforms. Plus BMW offers an M Performance pkg in some models…so if a BMW has that pkg…the cluster can reflect this option.

For instance, if you have the M Performance pkg and have the M Performance floor mats…you can have M performance display on your cluster, too.

I remember when I coded it and got M550d and then coded "Not Active" to get rid of it, it still showed the logo. I had to use restore to get rid of it. Maybe previous owner got stuck with it didn't know how to remove it? Or really desperate for the M logo.. haha

But I meant why does it default to M550d? As opposed to some other model, or have options to select all models that used that cluster.

Ah…it might be due to the control module the vehicle has. In the Bimmercode screen capture, it lists a specific KOMBE FPK_l12 module…and if you have a different KOMBE, the coding may react differently.

It could be that BMW only ever designed a logo for M550d for the 6WB? Has anyone ever seen any other model on 6WB? I'm assuming that's the only time 6WB shipped with a logo from factory. Maybe 6WB doesn't have other logos built in..

You probably missed the right option for it because you have 2 options first one is for start animation in the cluster the 2nd one is the logo where you can see and drive in the sametime it will be on the RPM's side
