Unfortunately with the storm in south FL, found myself driving what felt like a foot or so of water. Drove slow and eventually made it back to my driveway. Turned off, checked intake box/filter - all dry.

Once I checked and put that back, I turned on the car. It started and ran normally, so I let it idle for. No engine stalling or lights. Can’t get it back on the road due to the neighborhood roads flooded

This car sits so damn low already so I thought I was doomed. Doesn’t seem like water made it into cabins either. Am I ok or should I check something else?

Sounds like you are okay.

I can't believe how many morons there are out there that think going fast through standing water is the way to get through the water. When you go fast the standing water bow wave in front of the car can be three times the actual depth of the water causing an instant hydraulic lock and the resulting destroyed engine. The best approach is go very slow.

Hopefully weather gets better for you guys! foot of water isnt all that damaging, I would be more concerned whether or not the water is salt water. Since the sodium is no bueno on metal.

Safe Journey

Try to be familiar with your car and know where the engine air intake originates from. For the 640i it's near the top of the left driver side kidney grill. On my E39 530i it was driver side bottom bumper. Although the E39 is taller I would feel safer going through deeper water with the F06 cause of where the air intake is.

But the intercooler intake and output pipes are pretty low on our cars but if its sealed as it is supposed to be it should be ok.

Good to know, I thought it was bottom bumper which is why I was immediately assuming the worst.
