more wheels / tyres
Hi all,
I have had my 6 coupe for just over a week - absolutely love this car! But - I have 20" rims and different tyres on front and back: Nexen n'fera su1 on the front Bridgestone re050a on the rear I don't think either is run flat (maybe the rears), and they have plenty of tread. Ride is mostly OK, with a few exceptions. Pot holes can be very loud, other small imperfections on the road can also be poor. And a section of the m25 in Surrey seems to cause the car to resonate Road noise is so bad. So, I see a lot of recommendations to replace run flats, but not with these tyres. Should I expect a big difference with different and matching tyres? Does anyone have experience of either of these tyres? Debating smaller wheels / more rubber, but perhaps I've just got poor tyres? Thanks Matt |

Matt,
Best Wishes with the new car. If there is a ‘ZP’ in the numbers of the tire it would be a run flat (Zero Pressure). We preferably want 4 tires of the same even if staggered sized. It would make them the same age, and have basically the same tread ware. Also the composition of the tire material would be symmetric hence similar gripping of the road in all conditions. Asymmetric gripping can lead to unpredictable handling in circumstances where you really wouldn’t want it. As to how it handles bumps in the road, asymmetry in the tires shouldn’t really matter.
