Alternatives to 20in RFT on 650i GC

Greetings all, many thanks for all the contributors on here. It has really helped in the purchase of my wife's 650 GC. She loves it and I am reaping the rewards of a happy wife

I searched but did not see a thread regarding non RFT alternatives to the stock run flat tires. We are in FL however was still thinking this would be the first upgrade I make to the car.

Do any of you feel passionately about the non RFT tires you chose for this machine that is almost 5500 pounds? The rims are fine I suppose, she makes no notice of them. I do want her to have a great ride, safety and performance.

Thank you for any suggestions. Stay safe and healthy, Aitch

What type of alternatives? Like other run-flat selections...or a switch from run-flats to non run-flats?

Congratulations on the GC and also well done keeping your wife happy hehehhe.

So many threads on here about changing out the awful, hard , noisey RFT.

In my opinion Michelin Pilots Sports 4S are the best. I put these on my 6series and they have been absolutely marvellous.

I’m sure there are lots of options however I cannot recommend the Michelin’s highly enough.

Enjoy the cars

I've had contintental dws on my cars all year around and love them. But in Florida you probably just need a set of summer tires

I also live in South Florida, and elected to go with MICHELIN Pilot Sport A/S 3+ on our 2015 650i convertible as these are all season tires, and are not limited to the 40 degree cold weather limitation.

We enjoy driving our car on trips, and have family in Virginia were the winter temps are below freezing. If not for this consideration, we would have also installed the 4s Michelins.

Either would be a good choice! 40 lbs front, 45 lbs rear. Vehicle ride and performance is SO much better then with the OEM R/flats!

Regards,

Flintstone

I second or rather third, the Michelin's. Pilot Sport A/S 3+ or Pilot Sport for spirited but seasoned driving. You can't go wrong with a set of Michelin's. Continental Contact DWS 06 are good tires are well, but the Michelin's are superior.

Cheers

Get the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S.
They’re quiet, have excellent tread life, the rubber compound gives an excellent grip to the road surface. More importantly for your wife is that these tires are outstanding in the rain.
Can’t use these when it gets below 20 deg F, but not a problem in Florida.

Look into the Khumo PS91s. They are almost as good as the Pilot 4s for about a quarter the price.
