Tunes that don’t affect factory warranty
Guys
I’m new to BMW and imports in general, as I have only had American cars until now, but since I purchased my M6 GC I am totally in love with it, and am dying to mod it... My apprehension is the 4 year 48,000 mile warranty, as I don’t want to lose it. My car only have 6,100 miles and is a 2016 model Is there a simple tune that I can do that will not affect the warranty at all? The car has awesome power, but a little more would be awesome! Feedback is appreciated! Thx |

Just one....Dinan tune at an authorized dealer/shop has full warranty backing that matches that of the BMW Warranty.
It's technically a Dinan warranty that replaces the BMW Warranty in full remaining terms. Basically Dinan is on the hook for anything that breaks related to the tune. It's officially/unofficially endorsed by BMW.

Like the reply above.
Only company that will back you up is Dinan You can get the Dinantronic tune installed but any Dinan dealer "independent or BMW" and if you get a CEL you can get it inspected and repaired under warranty. Easiest is to visit a participating BMW dealer that is part of the program. Not all BMW dealers are Dinan. There is a dealer locater search on their website. |

I have stage 2 tune and free flow exhaust from Dinan. It was installed by authorized BMW dealer and it runs great!

Check out BPM Sport. Mike is one of the best BMW tuners in the industry and his tunes are safe and reversible. Completely stand up guy and backs all his work. I've had his tunes on 3 different cars (current 650i) and it always produces awesome results.

The OP asked about warranty issues... NO tuner will cover BMW warranty.
If your engine fails, BMW will find out about the tune 100% if they want to. Anyone who claims the tune is invincible is lying. |

Technically none, but Dinan matches factory warranty time/miles period. If a BMW dealer performs Dinan tune, even if BMW denies warranty claim, dealership should back-up repair through Dinan warranty. Some external flashes capture original code and then can re-write, which may prevent prior tune detection

We were the first company to freeze the flash counter as well as the only one for some time that provided you with your exact original stock version when returning to stock - both which ensure an added layer of consistency to prevent obvious signs software was modified. There is no external flash that can capture the original code and rewrite - in fact, you can only read a very small section of the code from the car. Providing the exact stock original version puts the calibration to the exact same it was prior to the flash. The only part that can't be restored are environmental data that the ECU records, such as max speed, rpm, etc - these can only be changed via ECU removal. Flashing the ECU is the best way to safely extract more power from the vehicle, as piggyback units essentially trick the ECU into making more power, and this, by-itself, can reduce the effectiveness of built in protection systems designed to ensure longevity. I can not tell you the number of customers that have switched from piggyback units to a proper flash tune that were amazed not only at the performance increase and drive-ability, but the consistency as well. A lot of customers still in the factory warranty have requested a less aggressive calibration, and then switch to something more aggressive when the warranty period is over. Third party extended warranty contracts are really the best bet. At the end of the day, the warranty risk is always present, so it's a matter of weighing the pros and cons in each specific situation

"No issues with warranty." You won't have a warranty issue with non-engine related failures in the US, but if the engine has issues and they can pin it on the tune then they ca deny the claim

I was looking at Noelle tuning. I was told by the company that does the tune it doesn't void the warranty. Then I found out it does but Noelle covers anything that happens to the engine if they think it caused the issues. It's a boost of 105 HP for the N55. I would love to tune my engine. I love speed but cant afford to get another car. I do have an extended warranty on my car. If it can be tuned and still not have to worry about them not covering any issues. I'm in. I already upgraded my head unit from the NBT to the EVO so I could have Apple car play and listen to the radio.
