Frozen paint - everyday car
I'm considering buying this m6 gc - it will be my everyday car - getting mixed reviews on how easy / & how hard it ll be to maintain the car
Any experiences that can help provide me w some helpful insight? I live in NJ so car would be daily driver all 4 seasons ( which scares me the more I look into this) Any help - advise - suggestions are appreciated! Thanks

The paint is easier to maintain than a gloss paint. You just need to be sure to use matte products. I have heard good things about Dr. Beasly matte products. This paint should never be buffed or waxed. BMW sells a nanowax that works with this paint but other than that, thats about it. The real problems come if you get this paint damaged as most of the time your going to need the whole part repainted, and you need to find a shop that can do it correctly. I had to pass on a loaded frozen black m6 a few weeks back due to paint damage all over the bumper, hood, and driver side door. It was going to be too much of a hassle to get all that painted again.

I've read that if you have any damage that requires a repaint it's very difficult to match the paint, so often it is recommended to repaint entire sides of the car instead of individual panels so the differences are less noticeable. Example - Saw this M5 in what looks like Frozen Monte Carlo Blue listed on car gurus, got excited, then saw pics 6 and 7 and now I get why they repaint the entire sides. https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/share/274449546.

Get a gloss painted car, put the X-pel stealth PPF on it and bam it turns matte
but seriously my dealer told me if you had matte paint, there are special ways to clean it, someone once told me lemon water, don't know if trolling or not Also that is a CRAZY cool paint color, GL with purchase! |

I have a frozen black M6GC. Its my first matte car. Its a lot less complicated to maintain than a traditional car with clear coat and a gloss finish. You just wash it, and dry it. I use matte sealants to provide a layer of protection.
I think that paint is difficult to match whether its matte or not, and that if a scratch or dent is bad enough to need paint, then most repairers will repaint that panel, and potentially adjoining panels to blend them together. If the car is mechanically sound, is what you want, and is a fair price - buy it. Frozen paint ownership is not painful, and should not be the factor that prevents you from M6 ownership. |

Another recent frozen black M6GC owner here. The only difference is that you have to hand wash it with neutral products (or mattes specific ones), you cannot take it to a mechanical carwash and you should avoid very high pressure wash. Does the car stand out? Oh Yes
