DCT clutch replacement
Hey guys, I'm replacing the clutches and attempting to do the job on my own. I already have everything out of the way and want to pull the trans. My question is can the trans be pulled leaving the motor in place? I didn't want to drop everything but I've heard from some that that's the procedure. Looking for any experience to help.

I feel like this is important information you should know BEFORE attempting to do the job lol!
But to answer your question, yes you can pull the trans with the motor still in the car. The guys over at evolve did that when swapping out the clutch. Here's the video link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63sk1jcbQYY |

Nah! I just started digging in and figured I was doing it either way haha. I did see it's possible to do it leaving the motor in, people on Facebook must have just been confused. All I need to do now is pull the trans, I have ISTA so then it'll be the fun of trying to figure out the adaptations hahah! The clutches are already put together so should be a simple swap over

Coming along , taking my time and figuring stuff out little by little. Tried removing the clutches with the BMW removal tool and the pins just broke off it, had to disassemble the stock clutch and remove the spanner nut and reassemble the new unit the same way. Not sure why maybe I'm just an idiot haha. Tomorrow I'll put the trans back in. Also installed billet rear diff mount while I was back there .

Good job with the trans,Having my engine rebuilt and the shop changed my clutch pack out for free since the engine was down.
Can you send me a link to the diff brace? How hard was it to install? Thanks

https://www.facebook.com/germanautowerks3/ Install was very simple, but I already had the driveshaft and exhaust etc off the car so was pretty simple. 4 bolts and it was in. |

Buttoning stuff back up, thinking about doing a small DIY for this stuff. ECS Sent me the wrong DCT filter so waiting on it before putting the exhaust and stuff back on.

Thanks man! You should be able to order right on their Facebook. They were doing group buys so around $1300 shipped. They are anodized which is nice and come with new bolts as well. Really nice piece.

Update:
Everything seems great, drives very close to stock, I would say the engagement might be slightly more harsh but nothing super noticeable. I also haven't driven it in awhile so might just be noticing the DCT vs my daily. |
