A 330 hp 3300/3400 lb sedan...I'd call that a 4 dr e46 m3.
I know in a freak left in my e36 m345, but a gc or at least a sedan would lure me out. An m variant with 370 hp would probably be my ED---->"cold dead hands" car. Though I'm sure hybrid tech will make some amazing cars in the coming decade...see porsche 918 and i8 as precursors.

Some of the 4 door renders done last year in white looked pretty good. If I wasn't on my phone instead of a pc, I would dig up the images.

2 series Grand Coupe with a hatch back that's sexy like the 4GC would be my next car. Give me an inline 6, RWD and an M version and I would buy it!

Why can BMW not do both. They did it with the 5/6 3/4 why not the 2 series? All versions coupe, sedan, and Grand Coupe

A lot of people dislike the 4-door coupe concept but I think BMW absolutely nailed it with 4er and 6er Gran Coupe and I would have no doubt that a 2er Gran Coupe will follow and really do hope it becomes official over a Gran Turismo.

If they put an inline 6 in this bad boy, and offer RWD+6MT, this will be my next BMW. No doubt in my mind.

Go straight up hatchback, or hot estate.

Those tail lights should've been on the 2 series unlike the poor attempt at modernizing the E82 tail lights. To be honest, it's pretty hard to build on the E82 tail lights (not because it's beautiful/fugly).

On topic: I miss the days when there weren't GC's, GT's, etc. If one must be made though, keep the 5 door thing with the 1er's.

Scott, you spooked the crowd when you uttered "GT". With "5door", you didn't really mean the 3GT or 5GT shape, but rather the 4GC shape. Right? Right?

Now THAT looks great...and keep it a 4 door, not a 5.

Do the 5 door hatch with the 1er, not the 2er

I am reminded of some who have seen stages of the process of a sharper kink at the rear glasshouse and an evolutionary face joining to the kidney grille this time but with sharper detailing and interpretations of original forms, similar to the ideas of old and new on the CSL Hommage.
Sounds promising..really hope for a M2 GC for the next gen 2er.

As things are going, I expect the next 2er to borrow heavy cues from the upcoming 1er sedan? The same way the 3/4, X5/6, X3/4..are almost exactly the same except for proportions. Hope the next 6er dont look exactly the same as the 5 though, it would take away its exclusivity and sportier stance.
what's a 1er sedan?

I would prefer a proper 5dr hatch, not some GT filth.

A proper execution could be almost reminiscent of the alfa gtv...make the nose fiber and chisel the tail. The current 3er gt seems a little rounded in back. Like the designers weren't sure what they wanted

BMW totally LOST this game.

the A3 and CLA are selling by the bucketloads....and all the US market gets is an entirely underwhelming 2-series coupe and convertible.....

BMW USA should have pushed to AT LEAST bring the 1er 5-door hatchback to the US market....it would have done fine in the current climate of people preferring SUVs and Hatches.......

So this 'next generation' 2er.....will probably be too little too late.....and if it's FWD? forget it!!

I really Love my GC- I think it looks cooler than a Panamera (not as good mind you but damn nice and 30-50k less - The next GC could be the best in its segment.

BMW is no doubt behind and stumbled on this- but they havent lost it by a long shot. First of all the M235 is anything but underwhelming. Just a perfect car in almost every resepct. Excellent small size makes it drive like a "proper" BMW- my 4 series GC is an executive sport coupe by comparison built more for luxury (but the wind Noise on the 3/4 series MUST be rectified) But I digress. The Other two have sold well but BMW will split those sales when the 4 door 2er arrives. And I think they will have some tuned for low price and then probably a ZHP version and then when the big kahuna hits- the M2 will kill the really unrefined- I have driven it - fast but by no means the be all end all) AMG CLA. Audi has no such car at this time. There are big huge plans for the 2 and i think, not being a fan boy- I have a lot of bitches with BMWs (hello POS NAV system), will ultimately rule the segment.

Give us a BMW M2 GC that is eligible for the BMW Individual Program. I would trade one in each model refresh for the next 20 years without question.
