Michelin PS4S are amazing and PZero's are shit

The title sums it up.

My M6 has been transformed from being out of control in 2nd gear to just hooking up and going with these tyres. My PZero's still had 5mm left on them and I don't regret 'wasting' the tread and taking them off the car. There is no way I could ever recommend anyone keeps PZero's on their car after driving my M6 on PS4S tyres.

Wholeheartedly agree! To the extent that when I traded my F13 for the current F06 the MP4Ss were moved from the old car despite the fact that the OEM Pirellis probably had a bit more tread remaining. Can’t really even compare...

Man if you think the ps4s are good, try the cup 2's! I just switched from the 4S, and they are significantly better! Probably 20% stickier than the 4S. Definitely worth the premium!

How are the sport cup 2 in the rain? That's really the main reason I'd choose the 4s over them, where I live we can get a bit of rain and standing water.

CUP 2 in rain is a deathwish.. its a more aggressive trackday tire than p4s. p4 is the all-rounder, sacrificing that last bit of grip for more everyday usability. And yes, zeros SUCK compared to p4s!!

I live in California where we get some rain, but not crazy amounts. I haven't run the tires in the rain yet, but friends who daily cars with cup2's have said they are not too bad. Definitely better than the old cup tires, but not as good as PS4S. If the majority of your driving is gonna be done in dry weather definitely get the cup 2. When warmed up, the level of grip you get with the cup 2s are close to R compound tires. I have my stock rims on ps4s all around, and will probably swap to them if weather gets very very choppy. But I have a feeling they will be sitting in my garage for a very long time haha

I was tempted to go with the Cup 2 at the rear but I do 20k miles a year and it rains a lot in Auckland so I thought the PS4S was the best option.

I wish I had a set of those first so I could compare but obviously it made no sense to me to buy a set of PSS now. Being able to hook up in 2nd on any road surface is the big win for me, previously there was only a single stretch of recently resealed motorway where I could get grip on my entire drive into work but now I can just floor it at any time and it just goes.

I run 315/30/20 Nitto NT01's all year round and they hook just fine in the rain. I have full traction in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd with 700whp+ on a stage 2 tune and mods. You have to know how to drive, tires aren't the only thing holding the car to the pavement, your foot plays a pretty big role, Lol

Wish they made more tires in that size... what set up do you have on your car to make 700+whp? Most of my buddies on stage 2 91 octane are making like 650whp max.

Access to 101oct and E85 will pick up that 50whp. Also it depends on the tuner. Mission performance can squeeze over 700whp on 91oct but will straight up tell you that down the road you will probably toast your motor. 91oct is garbage and no one should be pushing over 650whp on these cars on it.

Ahh I see. I don't see much people running e85 on the s63 motors. Most people just stick to pump and meth. How much torque are you making? I think think even with good fuel 700whp would be very sketchy for engine reliability.

TQ is right around 680 or less, I like it that way to get a good launch and keep the trans/clutches alive. I prefer more top end than low end as this car already makes too much low end torque with a stage 1 tune only.

Damn 680 torque is a lot. I think I'm gonna go with the openflash flat torque curve map when more people have tested it. I know torque is what is blowing all the stock s63s right now.

Only difficulty I have is the heating up part with my SC2's. Have found that they require more than a PSS or PS4 and am looking for a tire that requires "driving around" time or burnouts to warm up...

Hmm I honestly don't have issues with warming up the tires. After some light driving to warm up the motor and 1-2 WOT pulls, my tires warm up just fine!

I’m still on 265 but I will consider 275/35, 285/35 or 285/30 when I get through the fronts

I wouldn’t change from 265s... 2 problems when going wider: less agile and precise turn-in/handling; and exposing the side skirts to even more stones/debris from front wheels (wider tyre has the same effect as spacers).

The latter in particular is a bit of a challenge with M6, what are you guys doing to protect the skirts and side panels/front doors? I’ve considered clear film in the skirts, and perhaps ceramic coating is more resistant than wax/sealant only? I observed this in my F13, and the new F06 shows signs of this after less than 3k miles (no marks visible yet)...
